What Rock & Roll used to look like
Posted by: Rest in Pieces ()

I don't know what this shit is so called rock bands are playing these days but it's not what I grew up with. THIS is Rock & Roll boys and girls. I saw these guys play many times and it was always 100% full on KICK ASS ROCK & ROLL.

I just hope it's not gone forever. These guys packed the house where ever they played and they played their fucking guts out to the point you thought they just might drop dead on stage.

This is the real fucking deal.

That brings back memories. I saw Tull perform in graduate school. Actually appreciate him now more than I did back then.

Great post guys. The Jerry Lewis video is fan-damn-tastic as are the old Rock-A-Billy tunes. Tull is phenomenal!

There's these guys...

Can't leave these boys out of thread like this:

This guy lived the life. Lived and played hard. Had nothing left at the end but boy he could rock out with his cock out.

What a great thread. I've enjoyed all the tunes here so far. Keep em coming.

Rock & Roll died in the early seventies. Everything recorded since then is bullshit.
Jerry Lee Lewis died with nothing? Everybody dies with nothing.

You guys are confused. The posted video was of Jerry Lewis (the so called comedian), not Jerry Lee Lewis (the singer). But speaking of Jerry Lee Lewis...I saw him at Wolftrap about ten years ago and he could barely hobble onto the stage. He did not look well at all. He went through the motions, but it was clear that he did not want to be there. I'm amazed that he's still performing.

Has anybody seen AC/DC lately? I last saw them in 2009. They can't possibly be as good now as they were then. I thought I was going to have a heart attack during the show.

Heart a couple years ago at jiffy pube, played the obligatory one eighties ballad, and proceeded to blow that place apart. Then Jason Bonham and members of his band came out, and they and Heart played about ten of the most blazing Led Zeppelin songs I'll ever hear live in my life. I know, Heart. If you've never seen them live they still put on a kick ass rock and roll show. I could never truly describe the power of the music and energy coming off the band that night. It was fucking Rock and Roll!

The Wilson sisters version of "The Battle of Evermore" as The Fishmongers is awesome as well.

A lot of rock sucks these days, but there are a few bands farting around that still put good stuff out.

Last In line (Dio's old bamd) just put and album out.

Saw Dickie Betts and Great Southern play one snowy night at Jaxx in West Spfld, about fifteen people came for the show, they played for us for about two and a half hours. Incredible music with of course a lot of Allman Brothers in the mix. I think everyone there got hammered as hell, band was bullshitting with us, bought them some drinks, had a blast to virtuoso guitar playing. Great Southern was playing super tight!
Incredible music at what rich people must experience when they hire big name artists to play private parties.

Any of y'all getting tickets for Sabbath's last gig here? Fucking believe I'm going, my lady is gonna have to be DD for that one... Your author is getting a good buzz on then!
