Decades of research and we find one study that implies some variation in brain tissue/development from a lifetime of smoking. OK lets follow this and see where it leads - that is what science is about. If this is found to be true it probably will rank somewhere between effects of household cleaners and plastics over a lifetime (probably not even close to the damage done by those). Lets put people in jail for life for eating out of plastic containers and using Lysol.
