Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
I have only met one who is actually from Texas, ever. The rest just seem to glom on mindlessly. Sadly, it seems like Americans in general suffer from mindless bandwagon/mob-mentality in many aspects of life, so I guess "America's Team" is a fitting moniker.
The fact is that many people invest a considerable amount of their mental well-being in sports and they naturally gravitate along with the masses to the most popular bandwagon they can find. Kind of like how babies are attracted to shiny objects.

I've always felt that Cowboys fans suffer from a certain degree of mental illness or at least a very serious character flaw. There is something defective about the human nature in general which leads people to follow the herd and seek approval.
I heard they are having a really hard time selling tickets to their new stadium. Even at the old smaller stadium you could walk up to the ticket office on game day and buy a ticket. Now that they have this huge new gaudy stadium it will be even easier to get tickets. Jerry Jones is like the typical dumb American who took out too big of a loan to buy too big of a house at exactly the peak of the bubble.

I only know about a half dozen Cowboy fans (one is an ex-BIL, whutta douchebag) but 4 of them, asked who they rooted for in the AFC, said the Steelers. So I guess they're pretty much the same fans.

I have had to change the addresses to my retaliatory blogs over half a dozen times.
My understanding is that there are a lot of Cowboys fans in the DC-area because back in the 60s the Redskins' owner was a blatant racist and the black fans from the region, who had no allegiance to Philly or New York, would cheer when the Cowboys kicked the Redskins ass.
As for the Steelers thing, there seems to be a dividing line in Virginia where a large percentage of people from the Shenandoah Valley support the Steelers. I imagine that back in the 70s when black-out rules were more stringent and the Steelers were good, that people in the area probably watched more Steelers games than Redskins games.

meh, bandwagon fans make the world go round, who says you have to love a team just because they are in close proximity to where you live? to me thats dumber than jumping on a bandwagon. and if you dont believe that, then you should be flaming the yankees more than the cowboys.

No way, true Steelers fans hate the Cowboys. The teams have played each other 3 times in the Super Bowl. And if it weren't for Larry Brown, the Steelers might have 7 Super Bowl wins right now.

Correction: If it wasn't for Neil O'Donnell, the Steelers might have 7 Super Bowl wins right now.

Don't forget the New England Patriots fans! They're as bad as all of the other Boston-area fans (*cough Red Socks cough*).
