Missle Defenses for Hawaii

IMHO....IF the threat is real enough to put missle defense systems in Hawaii...we should be blowing up those missles on their pads...or within seconds of them being launched.

We should have missile cruisers off the coast of North Korea and fire off a couple of Tomahawks over their air space to see how they like it.

Due the technology available for defense against ballistic missiles they go for intercept in the terminal phase, not boost or midcourse.

Except for a 10 block area in Pyongyang, the whole country looks like daisy cutters have been through there already.

What is this "we" stuff? You shovel praise and probably money to guys like that, and then hide behind the "we" of the rest of the citizenry looking for some offense to counter the threat instead of defensive measures? wtf?

Well they have - of sorts. You can go around the countryside in Korea and see areas that have been totally denuded of trees owing to bombing and shelling fro 60 years ago. Similar to what you can see in Okinawa and Saipan - where 16 inch battleship hits have literally blown chunks off the sides of hills and rock faces.

I think when other nations threaten to strike a state, or shoot a missile "in the direction of" US territory, and they do it, I think the correct question to ask is "what would Ronald Reagan do?" and the answer to that is likely the best foreign policy response.

I think the US military should use the opportunity as a missile defense test and shoot it down wherever phase in the launch cycle it is appropriate.

Ronald Reagan bombed Libya for threatening U.S. ships in the Mediterranean. Given the precarious situation between North and South Korea, I'm not sure bombing Pyongyang, though deserved, is the best course of action. Remember, Libya responded by blowing up Pan Am 103.

Well...you are correct about one thing...I do not want to be included in the "we" that includes "you"!

North Korea depends almost completely on China for material needs, I don't know why Beijing tolerates them. China is too far invested in the US to be playing games like this. Whatever Korea does to the US, it will eventually have effects on China.

It's because Beijing doesn't want millions of starving N. Koreans crossing the border into China. China has enough trouble with its own poor and persecuted to deal with Pyongyang's.

If North Korea decides to go to war, the first place they'll attack will be South Korea.

China tolerates them because of the "brothers in communism" thing, and I don't think China's potential economic impact on the US should be underestimated. However, as China strives to be a respected world power, it's not in their best interest to let their rabid dog off the leash.

I'm just saying that if there is a war with North Korea, the boot that has been on the neck of the North Korean people will be pre-occupied with South Korea. N. Korean refugees won't flee for S. Korea, where the fighting will be. They will cross over into China.

im sure glad you arent in charge of the military because we would all be screwed.

Vince would only support military action if his hispanic brothers didn't have to do the fighting.

Also, Vince avoided the draft, yet advocates military action, guess what that makes him!!

Barrack is making so many mistakes. He's an embarassment as a leader.

He is nothing but a weakling to N. Korea and Iran. What's Obama going to do when Iran massacres it's citizens? Nothing, because he's afraid of insulting the muslim world.

N. Korea is doing everything to thumb it's nose at the US because they know we have a weak president.

Obama is such a miserable failure but the fact of it is totally hidden by a complicit media.

You liberals totally fucked this country up by voting him in office.

Iran has absolutely nothing to do with North Korea. But since you brought it up, you're right. He's not going to do anything, because this is a United Nations issue, not a United States issue. What would you have him do? Send in American troops, unilaterally, to stop political turmoil in Iran? That would actually accomplish less than if he just set himself on fire and ran around the White House lawn.

> N. Korea is doing everything to thumb it's nose at

Just like they did to the president before. Again, North Korea is a United Nations issue at the moment. They have not attacked or declared war on the anybody, let alone the United States; they're just assuming an aggressive posture. If they fire a missile at Hawaii as an act of war, I doubt Obama would find it hard to get popular support for retaliating. Japan and South Korea have more to worry about in an immediate sense.

You have no idea of what it means to love your country if you judge the president's actions based solely on his political party. People like you, liberals and conservatives alike, are what's ripping this country's politics apart.

Obama doesn't have the backbone to do anything like that. He's afraid of what the extreme left wingers would say. He's a coward.

Thanks again for passing your ignorant judgment upon me. Your judgment is as good as your ignorant political philosophy and I weigh it accordingly. Why aren't you bitching about Obama's unconstitutional actions as of late. Oh, I forgot, you don't quite realize what that is.

As opposed to sacrificing 4,000 U.S. troops and billions of dollars to occupy a country that doesn't want us there? I say let the Iranians kill each other. With any luck, the reformists will win. If not, the existing government will be so weakened they won't have time to worry about fucking around with Iraq and Israel.

P.S. Stop blaming Obama for every international crisis. North Korea has always and will always be apeshit insane. Whether we had Bush, McCain, Palin, Clinton, etc. North Korea would still be harassing South Korea and Japan, and taunting us with WMD.

I've seen no one brag about their careers on this site. You started this tirade by belittling what soldiers in Vietnam went through. Anything after that is fair game, including what you did during Vietnam.
