Hillary exposed the name of a guy who had a clandestine relationship with the CIA on her private, unprotected server
Posted by: Valerie Plame and Scooter Libby ()
Date: October 09, 2015 11:59AM

Hillary Clinton used her private email account to pass along the identity of one of the CIA’s top Libyan intelligence sources, raising new questions about her handling of classified information, according to excerpts from previously undisclosed emails released Thursday by Rep. Trey Gowdy, the Republican chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi.

On March 18, 2011, Sidney Blumenthal — Clinton’s longtime friend and political adviser — sent the then secretary of state an email to her private account that contained apparently highly sensitive information he had received from Tyler Drumheller, a former top CIA official with whom Blumenthal at the time had a business relationship.

“Tyler spoke to a colleague currently at CIA, who told him the agency had been dependent for intelligence from [redacted due to sources and methods],” the email states, according to Gowdy’s letter.

The redacted information was “the name of a human source,” Gowdy wrote to his Democratic counterpart, Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, and was therefore “some of the most protected information in our intelligence community.”

“Armed with that information, Secretary Clinton forwarded the email to a colleague — debunking her claim that she never sent any classified information from her private email address,” wrote Gowdy in a letter to Cummings.

Clinton has repeatedly said she never sent or received classified information on her private email server “that was marked classified at the time that it was sent or received.” But the FBI, at the request of the inspectors general for the intelligence community and the State Department, is investigating the handling of classified information on the private server.

And while there is nothing that indicates that the email from Blumenthal (who was not a government employee) was marked classified at the time Clinton received it, the sensitive nature of its contents should have been a red flag and never should have been passed along, according to a former veteran CIA officer.

“She is exposing the name of a guy who has a clandestine relationship with the CIA on her private, unprotected server,” said John Maguire, who served for years as one of the CIA’s top Mideast officers.

In addition, he noted, the email should trigger a “crimes report” by the CIA to the Justice Department seeking an investigation into who within the agency revealed the information to Drumheller.

“Unless Tyler was blowing smoke, it’s an unauthorized disclosure of information,” said John Rizzo, a former CIA general counsel. “And it’s the most sensitive kind of classified information — the identity of a human source. She should have told Blumenthal, ‘delete this — and don’t send me that again.’ And then she should have reported it to State Department security.”

HILLARY WILL NEVER BE INDICTED, TRIED, OR CONVICTED!

Because of her political status she will avoid any type of prosecution. This is just a simple fact of life when dealing with such high ranking political figures.

I hate to say it but it is reality and the truth.

If this information was so sensitive, why/how did Blumenthal, a private citizen, have access to it?

Armed with what information? Gowdy is telling Cummings that the guy's name was; “some of the most protected information in our intelligence community.” So who told Sec. Clinton and when did they tell her?

Good question. The answer to that question should obviously ascertained. If you are fine with the public having knowledge of clandestine human source, you should have no problem with what Scooter Libby did.

Trust us. Email witch hunts are fruitless.

The GOP has bigger issues since the cancer and hatred is spreading internally now.

Time to cut the old time cancer geezers out of the GOP.

They weren't political? I didn't realize that. Were they career White House employees or political appointees?

There are a couple of problems with your graphic. Let's start with the easy one first. Your graphic states that "n 2007 we learned...." OK, this is a good starting point. Do you have any knowledge of recent history? Do you know who controlled the Congress that year?

Now that you've Wiki'ed it, what is your answer? Did you come up with the correct answer that the Democrats controlled both the House and the Senate that year? Good.

Now, why does your graphic state that the "Republican Congress looked the other way"? I mean, it clearly wasn't a Republican Congress if both chambers were controlled by Democrats, now was it?

As for any (Democrat or Republican) Congress looking the other way, let's examine those facts. You might want to read up on a man by the name of Henry Waxman.

http://nsarchive.gwu.edu/news/20080226/Chairman%20Waxman's%20Opening%20Statement.pdf

http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2007/03/26/11362/rnc-emails-waxman/

From this piece: "Multiple congressional investigations have uncovered...."

Multiple congressional investigations???? What was that? Multiple? Surely you hated those investigations and labeled them witch hunts. Right? Multiple hearings. Depositions. Numerous oversight demand letters. Subpoenas.

So, now that you have all the facts, are you sure you want to post the stupid graphic that some idiot made up and you were stupid enough to believe?

First, it is Haldeman. Note there is no "r" in the name. Second, he was WH Chief of Staff. You'd have to be an idiot to not consider that a "high ranking" political figure. The chief of staff is the highest ranking employee in the WH. It is a cabinet level position.

For a simplification of where the position ranks, all you need to do is look at the US order of precedence.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_order_of_precedence

Notice that the chief of staff is #19 in the order of precedence (just behind the Cabinet Secretaries).

As for the other two, they are assistants to the President and appear further down on the order of precedence, but are still considered "high ranking."

John Mitchell was the sitting Attorney General of the United States.

You don't consider that "high ranking"?

You boys need to get your history strait. But if I considered myself Republican then I would be more concerned about the clusterfuck the party has caused upon itself and the USA. The GOP had a few sane individuals during the Nixon regime. Not many but still enough who understood the serious blunders that brought the Nation to the edge of the abyss. It could happen again.

I am a big fan of how the GOP repeatedly proves to Mr. & Mrs. America that it is incapable of governing, even within a deliberative body fully under its control. lol.

From a letter Rep Cummings sent last week to the Select Committee about this misinformation

Contrary to your claims, the CIA yesterday informed both the Republican and Democratic staffs of the Select Committee that they do not consider the information you [Gowdy]highlighted in your letter to be classified. Specifically, the CIA confirmed that “the State Department consulted with the CIA on this production, the CIA reviewed these documents, and the CIA made no redactions to protect classified information.'

It turns out the CIA never redacted the information from Hillary's emails. The redactions came from Trey Gowdy's office!

Funny, Trey Gowdy told Politico this weekend

“I would say in some ways these have been among the worst weeks of my life,”... “Attacks on your character, attacks on your motives, are 1,000-times worse than anything you can do to anybody physically — at least it is for me.”

Really, I mean... Really?????

> came from Trey Gowdy's office!

Gowdy penned a letter late Sunday accusing Cummings of pushing falsehoods. Gowdy said that the name was already redacted when he got the emails, courtesy of someone in the “Executive Branch.” He did not redact the name himself. And Gowdy also said that the email does, in fact, contain classified information.

“Contrary to your assertion, the CIA did not inform the Committee that anything about the facts stated in the October 7 letter ‘[was] wrong.’ As usual, I would ask you to completely and accurately relate the facts rather than attempt to create an impression that is misleading based on an incomplete and selective recitation of the facts,” Gowdy wrote to Cummings.

“In fact, my understanding is the CIA advised the Committee in a very brief email late Saturday night that it had reviewed the material in question and asked for no material to be redacted,” Gowdy added. “In fact, the name of the alleged source was redacted from the material cleared for public release by someone in the Executive Branch – the fact that the CIA says it didn’t do it does not mean the material was not sensitive or classified. And in fact, additional information remains in the document that ordinarily would be considered highly sensitive.”

“I also note the fact you did not quote the material in question in your letter, suggesting you yourself have reason to believe that it should not be publicly disclosed for some proper reason.”

I agree. Hitler was most self-serving and he despised the US of A.
