One of the best that I've ever seen is one done by PBS on the space race. It's like the movie "The Right Stuff" but all real footage and interviews with real people involved. In fact, I think that's probably where they got the idea for the movie since the format is very close. But it's much, much better than the movie.

It goes from some of the early testing when they'd do stuff like strap a guy into a chair attached to a rocket and send him down a rail into what are basically those collapsing highway crash deflectors to test the effects of sudden acceleration and deceleration. The main guy involved didn't do it just once but something like 27 times! lol. All kinds of bones broken and he had no whites to his eyes since the blood vessels would burst. All through the wild-ass test pilots trying to breaks the sound barrier up to the more recent ( at the time anyway).

Anyway, that's a good one if you can find it. I looked but don't see it anywhere. It was done pre-Internet so may be tough to dig up.

That recent HBO special on Scientology (Going Clear) is worth watching. Those people are a pretty wacked out bunch.

Patriotic duty I suppose. He was an Air Force test pilot and medical doctor too I think. Don't recall the guy's name now. Lots of others put their asses on the line in other ways and died in the process of getting us there.

It was a different time. That was earlier but if you weren't around in the 60s it's hard to appreciate how important the space race was. Along with all of the Cold War fears with missiles in Cuba, etc. All of those guys were looked at as true national heroes vs everyone and their brother being a "hero" today. Kids carried lunchboxes with astronaut's pictures on them and that kind of thing. Now we're reduced to Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande. lol

The HBO documentary about IRAQ was really good.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9Pq5JZ2Fd8

It shows how the people hate the Taliban but don't trust the US troops. How the US troops pay families for bodies. That the Taliban snipers were probably trained the US at some point.

LOL I don't know about eating placenta, but there are certainly no kidnappings! And of course no one in the Church would "force" you to watch anything. Maybe you felt this way because your reactive mind was overloaded by the new concepts and information you were hearing.

I suggest that you, (and anyone for that matter,) stop back by a Scientology Mission or Org in your area and give it an openminded try. If you aren't up to meeting with Church members in person yet, there is plenty of information and free online courses at www.scientology.org to get you started.

As far as the "documentary" mentioned; as usual anti-Church bigots parade out a few disaffected ex-members to repeat their lies about the Church to cover up their own crimes and personal shortfalls within the organization.

A "few disaffected ex-members"?

Those were some lengthy interviews with some of the highest ranking members of the church. Guys that hung around and worked with David Miscavage for years before fleeing. These weren't some scientology dropouts they found on the street, this was done of the church's top brass speaking out.

You are half correct. Any "documentary" or media piece that attempts to slam the Church of Scientology always has the same cast of characters playing for pity with their "horror" stories about the Church. Oh sure they were "top brass" but they lied, cheated, and stole to get their way to the top. When they got caught, they quickly scattered like cockroaches. These are people who were less interested in saving the world through Dianetics and Scientology, and more about filling up their own pockets and egos.
I keep tabs on what Church detractors and self proclaimed "defectors" (LOL)
are up to, and I will tell you they are a very self serving bunch, and always have been. Yes, where are these "dropouts" from the street? No one ever wants to interview the millions of success stories that have benefitted from the Church. It's far easier to be a critic of what you fear and don't understand. The people who really want to make a difference to better themselves and the world know the truth.
