Georgia Rep. Phil Gingrey and Texas Rep. Kevin Brady were among the 40 original cosponsors when Rep. Nathan Deal introduced the Birthright Citizenship Act of 2009 (H.R.1868) last month.

The Birthright Citizenship Act of 2009 would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act. Under the bill, a person born in the United States gains citizenship if one of the person's parents is:

* a citizen or national of the United States;
* an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States whose residence is in the United States; or
* an alien performing active service in the armed forces.

Rep. Phil Gingrey has been in Congress since 2003, earning a recent grade of an A from NumbersUSA. Rep. Kevin Brady was elected to the House in 1997 and has earned a career grade of an B+.

The Birthright Citizenship Act of 2009 is one of five immigration reform bills endorsed by NumbersUSA during the 111th Congress. You can see a full list of the bills and its sponsors on our comparative chart located on the Proposed Bills page.

Or, Congress can just implement E-Verify nationwide and solve the problem without spending billions of tax payers dollars.

As the wee ones aren't jackpot babies on the other side of the border, it shouldn't come as a suprise if the little pawns are abandoned.

Vicente, why must you lump all hispanic people together? I know a number of hispanic people that one, do not support illegals; and two, get frustrated by low rent cholos perpetuating the stereotype. Just because YOU don't mind being lumped in with criminals doesn't mean EVERYONE who shares the same heritage wants to.
