Trumpublicans: POWS are not heros

"He's a war hero because he was captured," Trump said during an appearance at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa, on Saturday. "I like people who weren't captured."

I've been making a graph in Excel of Trump's twitter followers. They are growing faster today than yesterday. I guess this gave him more publicity.

Donald Trump was a draft dodger. Any American who served wouldn't be a hero in his narcissistic mind.

It pains me to say this, but Trump is right. McCain is no hero. He's a miserable aviator, someone who managed to crash every plane he got his hands on, and managed to get his "Ace" by scoring own goals.

Yeah, but if McCain hadn't served, we wouldn't have lost so many planes. The man was a miserable failure.

Actually they are not hero's in the accepted sense of the word, 9 out of every 10 POW surrendered to opposing forces. It is just a man doing his job, fighting, that capitulated to the enemy. They are neither hero's nor cowards, it is just something that happened. Better being a live POW than a dead man who has absolutely no hope of ever returning, POWs have hope, like McCain did.

Funny to see the rightards scrambling to react. If this was from a Dem, the GOP would lose their collective minds. Because it's Trump, we see idiots trying rationalize: well he's technically right, POWs arent' heroes, etc.

Meanwhile, in the Alternate Universe where McCain won the 2008 election...

Dinner was a plate of maggot filled rice. Again. It was always the same, every day, with maggoty rice in the evening, and a bowl of dirty tepid water, masquerading as soup, in the morning. McCain just stared at the plate. Fucking Charlie. They thought it was funny making them eat this shit; he could see them on the other side of the bamboo bars, jabbering away in their guttural tongue, occasionally pointing at his cell and laughing. He hurled the plate against the cell bars, some of the rice splattering far outside the cage near the guards. One of them stormed angrily toward him and said--

--"Mr. President? Mr. McCain, sir?" The staffer gently shook McCain, whose head was down on his desk, a thin dribble of drool forming a spreading puddle across the SECRET/NOFORN folder opened there. McCain awoke from the dream with a start, his hand clutching for the sharpened pencil that was usually on the side of his desk, but his fingers raked only the empty wood surface. The first thing the staffer had done when he saw McCain asleep was the confiscate the pencil, his hand involuntarily brushing the scar on his neck; the scar he'd received his first day on the job, when he learned how dangerous rousing the sleeping President could be.

"WHUH?" shouted McCain. "BLUH? WHURMI? FUZZIN SARLEY!" He shook his head, and the staffer saw McCain's eyes suddenly clear, as if they were just coming into focus.

"Oh yeah," said Vice President Palin from across the room, where she reclined on a couch, flipping idly through a People magazine, "he was havin' that Vee-yet Nam dream again, dontchaknow. You can tell, youbetcha, 'cause he keeps talkin' in his sleep 'bout that Charlie fellow he used to know over there when he was stayin' in that Hilton Hotel." She popped another bonbon into her mouth, pausing to wipe her finger off against the side of the antique couch, chewed for a few seconds, then let out another "youbetcha" for good measure.

"We got him, sir," the staffer said to McCain. "Anwar al-Alwaki. He's dead sir. Drone strike."

"Oh, well that's just fine. Just fine," said McCain, looking around his desk for a pencil. Why did they keep disappearing? It was a mystery he'd have to solve. Someone kept taking them. Maybe the VC, for all he knew. Sneaky bastards. The hot, fetid jungle smell from the dream still hung in his nostrils. This staffer fellow could be one of them. He'd have to keep his eye on the boy. "Remind me which one that was again?"

"The former American, sir. Top Al Queda in Yemen. You put him on the kill or capture list last year, remember?"

"Of course, yes," lied McCain, distracted by peering under his desk to look for his pencil. "And what about Al?"

"Al? Al who?"

"Kayda," replied McCain with a burst of exasperation. "This Al Kayda guy. When are we going to get him?"

Palin snorted from across the room. "Oh, geez, Johnny, it's a country! How many times gotta tell you that Alkeyda is a country, not a person, youbetcha!"

The dull, pounding ache behind the staffer's eyes had returned. Not for the first time, he wondered if slipping the coordinates of the White House onto the drone target list wouldn't be doing the country a kindness.

I think anyone who got multiple deferments to avoid going to Vietnam, as Trump did, is in no position to judge who is or isn't a hero. I think anyone who served in combat, especially if they volunteered, as McCain did, is a hero compared to the likes of Trump.

Do we want or need a president who talks tough and carries a big stick in addition..... especially in these turbulent times....Damn straight we do! In the current climate where Dear Leader considers Bowe Bergdahl to be a POW, and worth the exchange of five general officer level enemies, ''POW'' has been tainted.

Purple Heart is an Enemy Marksmanship Medal. Bob Kerry, current Secretary of State, put himself in for one when he got a booboo.

McCain, after graduating very close to if not at the bottom of his class, crashed a total of at least four planes. Only the last was shot down. Thank God for that, the North Vietnamese saved us some money.

Of COURSE, as an Admiral's son, he got special treatment. Not surprisingly he had a Brian Williams moment where he said a missile that struck another plane struck his, Fuck him. NOT a hero,

McCain technically wasn't even a Vietnam POW- they built a wall around McCain and made Mexico pay for it.

Donald Trump Ignores Draft Deferment Questions After Criticizing McCain, Vietnam
by Andrew Husband | 2:46 pm, July 18th, 2015
398

In case you hadn’t noticed, Donald Trump is not having a very good day. During a talk at the Family Leadership Summit, the 2016 GOP hopeful launched a tirade of verbal garbage at Arizona Sen. John McCain, past GOP presidential candidate and a veteran of the Vietnam War:

“He’s a war hero ’cause he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured.”
While there is an historical precedent for Trump’s feud with McCain (as there is for almost every fight the businessman gets himself into), his stance on Saturday — as well as his refusal to apologize — have turned the majority of conservatives against the would-be Republican President of the United States. Plus, there’s the matter of Trump’s own record of multiple deferments.

Back in 2011, when Trump first considered a run at the White House before the 2012 election between President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, The Smoking Gun shredded his ambiguous story about having a “high draft number” to shreds when they found and published his multiple deferment records. Turns out Trump received four student deferments and one medical release from serving in the military at the time, according to records and not his memory of the time:

In fact, the December 1969 draft lottery occurred about 18 months after Trump graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied business at the Wharton School. So, while claiming that he would “never forget” being at Wharton watching the draft numbers being drawn, the 64-year-old Trump seems to have misremembered, as candidates are fond of saying.
Almost immediately after Trump’s McCain gaff on Saturday, reporters pointed out the presidential candidates own lack of service and his record of multiple draft deferments. However, as vocal as Trump was about how little he thought of McCain’s status as a military veteran and career politician, he had little to say about himself, according to the Washington Post:

Asked why he didn’t serve, Trump said, “I had student deferments and ultimately had a medical deferment because of my feet. I had a bone spur.” But Trump said he did not recall which foot was injured and instructed reporters to look up his records.
(See above, Mr. Trump.)

Of course, Trump didn’t stop there. Instead of letting journalists dwell any longer on his McCain remarks or his deferment records, the candidate decided to attack the Vietnam War:

Trump added, “I was not a big fan of the Vietnam War. I wasn’t a protester, but the Vietnam War was a disaster for our country. What did we get out of the Vietnam War other than death? We got nothing.”
It’s like Christmas in July.

Trump is saying it like it is on a lot of issues but for a person who never served to bad mouth a former POW who served 5+ years in a POW camp that was hell and never lost his sprit and received the Silver Star and Purple Heart, That's way out of line. And it does not matter what medals anyone has. Tone It down Donald And do watch some of the things your saying.

Bitch McCain out on his political stands, not his military service. I think it was a pretty stupid thing to say and he will lose a lot of creed for it.

I think Bob Kerry Medal of Honor Navy Seal Vietnam vet is a ass, but I would never bitch about his service. Have a Brain and some respect for those who served our country with valor and honor.

Who on the DNC ticket has served?

Not Hillary (failed the Bar exam in DC - known liar)
Bernie Sanders (admitted Socialist)
Martin O'Malley (created the mess in Baltimore)

WRONG GUY. Yes an Asshole but Wrong Guy. Yes he got combat paper cuts 3 times
but he did not make the rules on Purple Heart awards.

>>Purple Heart is an Enemy Marksmanship Medal.

That's a very low blow to troops and complete Bullshit.
How many men came ashore on D Day to be cut down by machine gun fire as the doors of the landing crafts came down and never had a chance to do anything but slightly deplete the enemy's ammo supply. And so on and so on in every combat action..

That's one of the worst things I have every heard about our troops.

Absolutely right. I fucked that up. Doesn't change the fact that John Kerry, NOT Bob Kerrey pushed like a cocksucking bitch to get his Purple Heart. So the enemy missed, is what you're saying? The Germans on the shore did a good job. Do you not respect them as soldiers?

I respect Trump's honesty and nerve to say what needs to be said. Here's a draft dodger that is not afraid to call a POW a loser.

That takes balls. This is what we need in the Oval Office.

Well, yeah, except NO. He was never drafted, so he couldn't be a draft dodger. Did he have a medical thing that kept him out of it? If we believe the government, yes. It's not unlikely, But his draft number was 356, which is kind of high.

If McCain hadn't gotten shot down he would be known as ''that guy who trashed four planes''. And he'd probably be able to remember HOW MANY FUCKING HOUSES HE OWNS.

Selective service records Donald Trump didn't want anyone to see show he dodged the Vietnam War due to a medical deferment, not a high draft number as he has claimed.

The records indicate Trump was granted a series of student deferments before graduating from college, and then was deemed physically unacceptable for military service after he graduated.

The paperwork, obtained from the National Archives and Records Administration by thesmokinggun.com website, contradict what Trump has publicly said in recent days.

"I actually got lucky because I had a very high draft number. I'll never forget, that was an amazing period of time in my life," the reality TV star and billionaire real estate developer said in a TV interview on Tuesday.

"I was going to the Wharton School of Finance, and I was watching as they did the draft numbers and I got a very, very high number and those numbers never got up to," said The Donald, neglecting to utter the word "deferment."

Trump, who is flirting with a run for the Republican nomination for President, was traveling Thursday night and could not immediately be reach for comment.

The bombshell document was released a day after President Obama accommodated demands from Trump and Tea Party officials for him to release his long-form birth certificate proving he was born in the United States.

Trump, who attended high school at the New York Military Academy in Cornwall-on-Hudson, took credit for forcing Obama to release his full birth certificate showing he was born in Hawaii.

He continues to demand Obama release his academic records, suggesting the President didn't have the smarts to get into Columbia and Harvard.

The Selective Service records were released with a copy of the registration card Trump signed in June 1964, revealing that in addition to weird hair, he has birthmarks on both his heels.

Yeah, I read that article too. Know what I noticed?

I noticed that they didn't mention his draft number, which you if you weren't retarded could go on line and look up. 356 is a get out of jail free card. Even if he were physically 100 percent perfect, he wasn't going.

The Donald indeed has draft number 356 for June 14th drawn in Dec 1969 when they had the first draft. They had them that date every Jan or Feb until 1972 when the last was held, that draft was for men who would be 19 in 1972 or born in 1953. The last draft call came in 1972 as well and it was over.

Trump would not be drafted . His number was that high. He was not any "Draft Dodger" either. Many men who have served never enlisted , they were drafted and would never had been in if they were not. So watch the Draft Dodger label
Dems. Bill Clinton nor Obama never served at all and so what they won, that's all there is to it.

Trump is wrong to say what he said about McCain's service as I have already said. If anyone thinks he's going to quit, I doubt it, He will be in until he does not get the nomination. He's got people thinking about a lot of things that are shitty about this country like illegal immigration. He will be heard on many other issues that people don't want to talk about, Issues that are suppressed by political correctness. . But damn it Donald leave the military service bit out of it. The American people don't want to hear that kind of a attack. In my opinion I think Sen. McCain is a gentleman and a patriot who served his country bravely, I have had some issues with his politics but I did vote for him over Obama in 08. AND I have heard Donald speak well of our troops on issues like veterans care. He just has a bone to pick with McCain and does not like him.

So Dems will just have to stand in their puddles of sweat as The Donald calls them out on many things they do that are shitty, and the people know to be true.

California issues more drivers licenses now to illegals!!Then citizens!! What a disgrace!!

The issue isn't how Trump got out of serving. It's the fact he avoided military service yet wants to pass judgment on those who served. I wouldn't call him a draft dodger. But his general thought process that getting captured during war doesn't make you a hero is sickening. I think of the US soldiers that endured the Bataan Death March and the airmen who were shot down over Nazi Germany, guys who joined the air corp knowing their chances of surviving their full deployment were close to nil, and then to have this self-promoting jackass question their heroism?? Is this really a hill you conservative idiots want to die on?

It's not a matter of avoiding the draft legally or not. Plenty of people did that legally, and whether that's honorable or not is questionable.

But if you don't think that a prisoner of war deserves respect, you should probably keep your fucking mouth shut.

Hard to call a fella who banged Linda Ronstadt when she was still bangable an ass. He's a liberal, that don't make him a bad person. He did take an unfortunate misstep one night though. Could happen to anyone.

At least he didn't get a fucking splinter booboo like John ''Jingis Khan'' Kerrey, with his tales of severed ears which he never reported up the chain of command, which if true, and that's a big if because we're talking about Ketchup John Kerrey here, would make him complicit in war crimes.

Tell it to the founder of SEAL Team Six. I stole ''Enemy Marksmanship Medal'' from him. His books, because I never served in the U.S. military, also introduced me to the term ''cannon fodder'' which is what you're talking about.

My thinking is once someone fucks up 4 expensive planes you change him out of flight status. Unless he's a low-achieving Admiral's son who doesn't know how many houses he owns.

Unfortunately "cannon fodder" comes with war and no one knows when or who "gets it".

The GIs who died took up the enemy gunners attention for a few seconds. Hopefully long enough for another GI to take em out.

They died as hero's forever, in defending their country. The USA. These were the guys "who never came home", the ones we are supposed to be remembering on Memorial Day.

I do remember them.
