Did the Holocost happen? If so, how many people died? How do we know this? Is there any evidence? I went to a Fairfax County High School years ago and learned that 6,000,000 Jews were killed, but I'm hearing numbers as low as 1,000,000, changing stories, and possibilities that the Holocost didn't even happen at all. What's going on here? Can somebody present me with some evidence as to what happened in regards to The Holocost? I met a Jew once who spoke at my school who had numbers tattoed into his arm. He said The Nazis did it. I believed him. Was he full of it?

Yes, you are a troll. But I just feel inclined to respond.

First, it is the Holocaust.

Second, they know its six million because they counted the dead and the missing. You had European cities with large Jewish populations which were totally emptied out by the Nazis. Many of them never came back and never went to Israel or the U.S.

Third, I always love that argument, "Well, maybe it wasn't really six million. Maybe it was a million. Maybe it was half-a-million."

If it were 10,000, would it be right of anyone to put 10,000 people (including women and children) in a pen, starve them, work them to death, randomly beat them, shoot them, rape them, torture them and gas them? Then to throw them, some of them still breathing, into ovens?

Does that make it more right?

My Uncle was in Patton's Army during WW II..and he saw some of the camps first hand...they existed.

I guess all the film footage taken by Americans and British that liberated the camps aren't good enough for you. Not to mention all the german film footage, eyewitnesses (many are German civilians that were forced to come in and bury the thousands of decaying corpses) and the surviving victims still with tattoos, defects and scars.
Maybe the Nurenburg trials where German officers admitted to taking part of the atrocities but denied responsibility (just following orders) just aren't enough proof for that Iranian cocksucker and people like him that deny.

They make NO effort to look for facts. If they did, they would find more than enough evidence to convince any halfwit. Just take a close look at those that deny the holocaust and draw up your own psychological profile and ask yourself, "Is this someone that seems informed enough to go against 60 years of eyewitnesses, film and physical evidence and all other forms of documented evidence?"
The answer should always be no, but if you choose to believe a complete fool like the asshole below, well have a nice life.

There's a great book by Michael Shermer that details the evidence for the holocaust and the objections from the deluded deniers.

Actually the deniers argue in a similar manner to creationists - which is an odd corollary since most deniers accept an incorrect version of evolution; they believe that evolution is a 'ladder' where humans (specifically *white*) sit at the top.

Their position is an insult to intelligence.

Technically I believe the Russians liberated the death camps - as they were in Poland. I think US and the British liberated the concentration camps.

There are always people who will speak with confidence and certainty even though their position has no basis or the basis is completely false. There were tens of millions of deaths during WWII. Most were due to the war and its effects. There weren't many non-Jewish Poles or Russians or Slavs who were given the "Dachau" treatment by the Nazis.

Total deaths were much closer..a mere 3 million differnece. But I think I said that.

I believe that the Russians had the most casualties - however what happened to the Jews was an entirely different thing.

Soldiers died in camps, civilians suffered as casualties of war, and people starved true.

But it was the Germans that rounded up their own people, shipped them to death camps in Poland and gassed them. Mostly Jewish people, but they also took homosexual, gypsies, people with down syndrome, and others.

These were not enemy combatants. These were their own people who had been systematically oppressed since prior to the war. They were put into ghettos and then shipped to death camps.

Trying to downplay the devastation and the atrocity or give any credence to the deniers is an insult to the human race.

Neither do I believe we should be spending as much money on animals as we do. I agree with you on this issue Vince. In this country animals are treated better then some humans. The amount of money that's available to animals is more abundant that money for people...are people afraid of people is that why they focus on animals instead? Simple animal love appears to be less complicated then reaching out to people.

this thread to me is not stupidity, he came here asking an honest question, why do so many people deny that the holocost happened? he asked if there is any reasonable evidence that suggests otherwise, he didnt push an agenda. If people took everything they had been told as fact without questioning, then we would be in trouble. I have to differ. To paraphrase Goebbels, "Repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth."

There is an effort here by the anti-Israel/anti-Jewish crowd to raise "reasonable doubt" about the Holocaust. As we have seen in recent years, some fairly high profile people are buying into this nonsense.

Let's set the record straight. The Holocaust did happen and it was pretty horrific. Movies like The Pianist and Schindler's List are mostly on-target with the depiction of Nazi atrocities against the Jews.

Nazis were pretty good record keepers, and it shouldn't be surprising at all that there is ample evidence out there to support the belief that around 6 million Jews died.

Do the Israelis over-play The Holocaust card for sympathy? Yes. But that is no reason to deny that The Holocaust happened as most historians have reported. Does questioning The Holocaust make you anti-Semitic? It depends on your motivation. I think about half of the people pushing it are out-and-out anti-Semitic and the other half are those "useful idiots" the Communists used to laugh about.

well..for once your experience is different. I do not approve of the overwhelming force Israey uses against the palestininians..and I am of the opinion that the govt of Israel really does not want to a peace agreement with the Palestinians on any terms other then surrender.

I'm sure if Israelis were coming into the U.S. illegally on rafts and running the border, Vince would support them. If Israelis hung out at 7-11 looking for jobs, Vince would be on this board every day calling for support of Israel.
