Please provide some examples of Western European socialist countries owning anyone's ass? What I see are people who actaully get out..on their feet and demonstrate against their government anytime their government does something they disdagree with. I think you over estimate the differences in freeedoms we enjoy vs western europe.

Socialist demoCraps fail to invest in the cleanest, most efficient energy source available - NUCLEAR. Socialist European countries (france) are intelligent enough to see this but nuclear doesn't fit the left-wing demoCraps agenda. Same goes with education. demoCraps remain true to union control over good education. Case in point - DC vouchers. About saving the economy - LOL. DemoCraps have just bankrupted the next two generations with the biggest spending in our history. Each person will have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars just to cover the interest for two generations. And it's not working. Already proven.

Nuclear Energy..the problem is disposal..so how about you volunteer to have it all buried in your back yard. OK? Once we solve that problem..it's a no-brainer. But neither party has a state governor willing to take the waste..so shut up until a republican governor does so.

Education...when private schools are required to take every child...those with social and developmental problems...and as much money is invested in the public schools..then your comparison might be valid. It isnt now. As far as I can tell DC is doing a very good job tackiling their union issue...and for that matter the only party tackling the union issue is the democratic party. The republikan solution is to just drain the public school system of moeney and resources and to privatize them all.

Earmarks are not a big issue..they represent 2% of the budget. You could kill all of them and 90% of the projects would find themselves back in the budget by other means. Its a fake issue.

The bigger issue of course is the deficit. Which Obama will have under control by the end of his second term. Hopefully by then republikans will get off their no-tax idealogue thinking and negotiate with the democrats on a series of budget cuts (defense needs a big cut)...and tax hikes. Until the republikans start acting responsibly they will be welcomed to the negotiations table...until then the democrats will do what needs to be done.

Yucca Mountain - Obama just shut it down. Why? To appease the anti-nukes. Irresponsible act on his part. He has an anti-nuke agenda and we all pay. And don't use the lame excuse that Obama cares for us all and is worried about us. Leftists advocate spending for failing school systems without dealing with the success and failure rates. One in four is a very poor dropout rate. Giving vouchers to poorer parents will allow them to get out of failing schools rather than making them fail too. But the voucher issue is opposed by the teachers union so no lefty will support it. If pay was correlated to success, many teachers would be homeless.

Will you bet your paycheck on that? That's what it will take to pay for the huge deficit Obama has already produced. We would all appreciate you donating your whole paycheck to the tax cause. That's what it will take. Go ahead Vince, spend your own money and quit spending everyone else's future.

Defense will need more funding as soon as Iran goes nuclear and Pakistan goes to Taliban control.

Let's start the budget cuts with a great big cut in social programs. Works for me.

He shut it down because the people in Nevada are tired of being the nuclear testing and waste dump for the US. Neither the governor nor the people of Nevada supported it. Now if listening to the people is socialist...Im all for socialism.

Vouchers are a very poor policy. Will create new haves and have nots...we need to fix the public schools...period.

WHat a stupid bet...democrats are the only party in the last 20 years who reduced a deficit. History is prolgue...After cleaning up the financial mess left by republikans we'll set the deficit heading down with new taxes and big cuts in the fat of Dod budget.

We need to get the hell out of Pakistan...Afghanistan and Iraq...let those poor people get back to a normal life. Our presence and attempted military domination of those countries is the reason they are turning to radical forms of governement. And dont forget..prior to 9/11 this country praised the Taliban in it's efforts to reduce the poppy trade...and to court them for other energy related programs. We'll do it again as soon as we get over our international interventionism.

You need to revisit your history. The budget was balanced only because of the Republican takeover of congress in '94 under Newt and his Contract with America. You liberals love to take the credit for successes that you have nothing to do with. Watch Obama trash our economy with deficits for his single term in office. Take credit for that instead.
