They then showed a "person of interest" coming out of hotel who has a hood on but appears to be a black female. Possibly so. A lot of times those exit doors only work one way. You can enter the stairwell from the floor but you can't exit the stairwell to the floors other than at the bottom.

So, I searched CL's casual accounters, first for "lawyer", then "hotel", then "David", then I thought hmmm...what the heck, I searched for "donovan"....

It is interesting that the ad was written and/or updated on Feb 6th (A Friday around 11:30AM) asking to meet at the Donovan hotel between noon and 6pm. So here is my theory...

The CL poster posted on Friday at work while board and probably got some responses but maybe nothing really worked out. Monday (Feb 9th) the ad is still up, so the poster gets a response that seems like it may work for a meetup. The poster probably can't meet during the day on Monday but in the evening. So, the CL poster gets a room at the Donovan, tells the responder to go to some room # and then the responder arrives to the hotel.

Now what transpires, who knows? The CL ad is a Man seeking a Women. I can't tell if the person in the video is a man or woman. Either way, let's just say (because it happens too many times) that regardless, the intent was to rob. You a person in a hotel room, fairly helpless with no witnesses in the room.

I don't know...I'm not saying this is what happend. This is a tragedy. It is just interesting that the CL ad is still available. If this ad was written by another poster, wouldn't they remove it knowing they mentioned "Donovan Hotel" specifically?

I feel for the family and hope they get through this with some peace. It is inquistive people like me that is not probably helping them heal. But I want justice for the victim!

I just found it extremely coincidental that someone would mention the Donovan hotel specifically. Apparently, this hotel has been used for this sort of "meet up" before. Watching the video something stood out at me. The suspect is wearing black pants and black shoes. This could indicate that he or she is a hotel worker or restaurant worker. Can you explain why the camera first shows the person lingering around evelator at 19:44 and then going up stairwell at 19:40? Could it be clock malfunction? Are there cameras pointed at each rookm? Most expensive hotels have these. If so why no video of the person coming out of Messerschmitts room? If we have video of this person coming out of his room then this person did it and did it alone.

This is a tragedy! But a lawyer who makes good money is probably not looking for a small bargain from a craigslist or backpage ad for a legitemate item. Why check in hotel? I would like to see more video of person of entering his room and leaving his room. How long were they in his room? Any blood stains on their clothes? Could there be more than one suspect? The way they went up the stairwell at 19:40 and then were seen at 19:44 around the elevator means they could have propped the door open on the fourth floor so another person could join in. Could be hotel ,worker due to the black pants and black shoes which are commonly worn by hotel staff.

Yes there is surveillance cameras in the hallways leading to his room which is why this he or she is the person of interest or main suspect. Why the DC police is not releasing is puzzling.

One other theory is he texted his wife with a lady already in his room. He could have been into S&M which means he was handcuffed to the bed. The information below combined with the CL ad (now removed) seeking a hook up at Donovan House by a white male the Friday before this incident is starting to make the circumstances surrounding this murder make a bit more sense.

Detectives found a wallet with "various credit cards strewn about" by Messerschmitt's head. More credit cards and documents were found throughout the room.

According to the search warrant, detectives also found an HP computer, condoms, lubricant and an enema in the room, among other items.

This has to be tough for his family. They simultaneously have to grieve for the loss of their loved one while dealing with the shock of both learning of his secret life and having that secret life spread all over the newspapers for all to see.
