Viola in "Pagan Christianity" esplains the many disparing things about pastors:

81% say they have insufficient time with thier spouces
80% say thier pastoral duty affects their family negativly
70% do not have someone they consider a close friend
70% have lower self esteam then when they entered the ministry
50 % feel unable to meet the demands of the job
80% feel discouraged or deal with depression
More then 40% report that they are suffering burnout, frantic schedules, and unrealistic expectations.
33% consider pastoral ministry an outright hazzard to the family
33% have seriously considered leaving their positions in the past year
40% of pastoral resignations are due to burnout

Why didn't they ask if they actually believed in God? I think many pastors do not.

It's Viola's point that God never intended for one man to do or try to do so much and encourages all to minister to one another
