Vice Mag Reviews DC: Verdict: Lame

"DC gave the world go-go and the half-smoke (get the best of these sausages at Ben’s Chili Bowl). And while it didn’t invent hardcore, it perfected it. There are a bunch of small art and music scenes that have been chugging along for years, heedless of whether you know or care about them. Here’s where you’ll run into it, and also the places you’ll want to get drunk and maybe buy some records."

Eh- Fairly boring review of what hipsters (might) like about DC-
What do you all like to do downtown, any secret spots?
Besides where to buy heroin, of course- ;)

When I went to the link the article didn't open up so I couldn't read what it had to say but...

I would have to say I find DC to be a fairly cool place. I have lived in San Diego, Norfolk, and Newport RI, and without a doubt DC is my favorite. I have also spent significant time in Baltimore (very cool), New York (not for me), Portland (so-so), Boston (didn’t like very much) and San Francisco (very cool). But I would still say DC is my favorite out of all those places too.

Some fun things from over the years- The Santa Stumble bar crawl (the original charity one, not any of the new knock-offs), the Cherry Blossom Bar crawl, Green Lot tailgate at Fed-Ex field, shows at the 930 club, Wizards and Caps playoff games, gorging at the many Peruvian Pollo joints (Super Pollo is my favorite), gorging at Tony Cheng’s in Chinatown (the downstairs all-you-can-eat Mongolian BBQ part), Georgetown waterfront happy hours when it finally gets nice out (pretty soon I hope), Union Station movies (for the atmosphere), Arlington Cinema Draft House (Dude-fest is awesome), shad run at Fletcher’s, all night catfishing on the Anacostia, plus all the normal DC mall/museum stuff.

I wouldn’t call DC lame.

I miss Nation and Dremos (Arlington).

But I agree, D.C. is a pretty cool area. You just need to know where to look.

Dremo's was cool.

I miss The Bayou. I always liked seeing shows there.

DC isn't a big town for the whole hipster scene. There's too much other stuff going on here and it sorta gets lost in the crowd.
