maryland is building a "study building" (huge complex" for government doctors from rich schools, probalby allot of foreingers who want to use USA money to do studies to send back overseas ... and MD is OF COURSE using tax money.

Easier than doing piece work in some factory, if it snows like hell and we have to drive to work because work has not been called off, he laughs at the "suckers". People on welfare are the fortunate ones. Who wants to work 50 years or however long it takes until you can retire? Who wants to get up everyday and drive to work, come home, get up and do it all over again and hardly ever enjoying the fruits of your labor?
Working to pay bills and die. That's unfortunate, but getting free food and having cheap rent from the government and having enough money to buy a nice car, those $300 shoes and the latest iPhone while others are struggling for the same?

He's got the right approach. I know that he is a gourmet and has devoted his life to the enjoyment of good food, an epicurean you might say. Don't forget if he wins the lawsuit, with the money he'll make attached he will be on "easy street" Let's include him in our prayers, he has not had the easiest life.

The odds are very low that the amount he actually might collect will exceed the legal fees expended. They didn't bring this case to make money, or if they did they are being foolish.

Guy is on SSI at a very young age, never had an actual job either... There is a big difference between a man of 60 (who worked his entire life) and a guy in his thirties being on SSI. I see people in wheelchairs working and this guy only needs a cane? I don't understand the "its not about money" thing....the guy is on disability for god's sake!!!!!!!

I've thought about this conundrum a lot over the past 40+ years. I grew up quite poor, but thru hard work and perseverance made my way up the ladder of life to now being on the verge of enjoying a very comfortable retirement at 57. Those who are truly disabled truly need the help. The lazy...not so much. There are few topics that stew more dislike amongst Americans than the thought of the un-deserving collecting a welfare check.
After paying my fair share of many taxes over the years, I've earned my opinion of welfare: An able-bodied man who is capable of working but refuses to do so because of laziness or whatever is fine in my book. He can enjoy never being able to take relaxing tropical vacations, own a nice new car, own a home on his own, capable of supporting a wife and multiple children, and most importantly, NEVER being able to ever meet society's generally-accepted definition of being a "real man".
If someone thinks that earning $800-$1300 a month for doing absolutely nothing is "beating the system", they can have it for all I care. They're only kidding themselves. And besides, since they know another check is always coming every first of the month, every dime of it gets spent back into the economy.

He could still work part-time or under the table, who Knows? He strikes me as the type of guy who could care less about tropical vacations which are nothing but an escape from reality anyways, he seems to enjoy just going to museums and Florida. A simple man with simple tastes.

My family promised to disown and write me out of the will if I ever so much as thought about applying for disability or SSI or any variation of it ever.
I think that this generation has lost a lot of its shame, I've seen people take genuine pride in beating the system by pretending to need disability and to be honest, it makes me pretty fucking jealous. I mean, you SHOULD be embarrassed, right?
These motherfuckers spending 800$ a month, which for the math majors is 200$ a fucking week. the things I could do with that kind of money...
