WICHITA, Kan. (CBS St. Louis) – Wichita police say a woman was sexually assaulted, hit on the head, and set on fire Monday night in Fairmount Park.

According to police, the woman was on the ground, almost in a crawl, barely moving, and naked.

The woman was helped by a neighbor – Johnnye Marshall woke up her boyfriend Deon McPherson when she heard somebody scream for help.

“What if that was my daughter? I’d want somebody to go in and get her,” McPherson told The Wichita Eagle. “Where there wasn’t blood, there was a burn.”

The flames from the fire were about 2 to 4 feet high. McPherson stayed with the woman until firefighters arrived.

According to Wichita police Captain Troy Livingston, the woman suffered burns on 55 percent of her body and is currently in critical condition but has slightly improved.

Police are still trying to figure out if this was random or if the woman was targeted. Either way, Livingston called it a “disgusting crime.”

Police are currently searching for a suspect but the only information they have on him is that he is a black male.

“Our hearts go out to the victim. This is a tough deal,” Livingston added. “Somebody out there knows what happened and we need that information.

A 350-pound Walmart shopper was arrested yesterday after he was found sitting atop five stolen rib eye steaks in the seat of a motorized scooter that he was riding around the South Carolina store.

Rodney Fowler, 43, was spotted Tuesday afternoon placing the steaks in his scooter by a Walmart loss prevention officer, according to a police report.

“Suspect sat on the steaks and exited the store passing all points of sale, without attempting to pay for said merchandise,” cops noted.

The 5’ 5” Fowler was then confronted by the Walmart worker and escorted back into the store, where he was later arrested by police for shoplifting. “Due to his size, the suspect was cuffed using two pairs of cuffs,” investigators noted.

Pictured above, Fowler spent about three hours in police custody before being released without bond. The fate of the rib eye steaks Fowler sat upon is not addressed in the police report (though here’s hoping Walmart did not re-shelve the pressed meat).

Trigger warning: This story contains details of horrific abuse.

Donald Dale Hackman Jr.’s girlfriend was sent to the hospital after what can only be described as a horrific bout of abuse, which included setting the woman’s genitals on fire.

On Friday, Hackman’s girlfriend finally sought treatment for burns, bruising and other injuries at the Heart of Lancaster Hospital ER, in PA. That’s when police began the investigation.

The victim suffered second- and third-degree burns to her lower stomach, genital area and inner thighs, which were all caused, according to reports, by Hackman pouring lighter fuel on her crotch and setting her ablaze. The 46-year-old man eventually extinguished the fire, but yelled at his girlfriend for screaming and crying in pain.

She also said Hackman locked her 7-year-old son inside a closet for 20 minutes after he tried to save his mom from one of the assaults.

The woman was transferred and admitted to the burn care unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Hackman was being charged with arson, aggravated assault, simple assault and false imprisonment. His bail was set for $500k cash.

Yeah, this is common. It's actually very surprising how many people use scooters, wheelchairs, baby carriages, etc. to hide food.

One very common theft in grocery stores is for women to bring in huge purses and conceal meat in them. Loss prevention is always on the lookout for women with huge purses.

Blessed are the murderous.

NEWTON NJ — A Newton police officer was arrested Monday on accusations that he unzipped his pants and exposed himself to young male drivers during "numerous" traffic stops.

Jason R. Miller, 37, of Hampton Township, a patrolman since 2001, turned himself in at the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office and has been indefinitely suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal case, according to a statement issued by Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch and Newton Police Chief Michael Richards.

Miller was charged with two counts of official misconduct, one count of a pattern of official misconduct and one count of lewdness, the statement said.

Miller would expose his genitals to motorists "to satisfy his prurient interests" and then let them leave without issuing traffic summonses, according to a police complaint.

The incidents occurred between March 18 and Oct. 23 of this year, the complaint says.

Superior Court Judge Thomas Critchley set bail at $35,000 with a 10 percent option and the condition that Miller surrender all firearms, the prosecutor's statement said. Miller posted the bail, the statement added.

The statement said Newton police received an anonymous tip on Oct. 23 reporting an allegation of misconduct by Miller and then another anonymous message on Oct. 24.

Based on the information, "an immediate investigation ensued" and following a review of patrol car video recordings and interviews, Miller was suspended on Oct. 28, the statement said.

An affidavit signed by Capt. Donald Peter of the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office detailed what appeared to be a pattern of behavior by Miller during several traffic stops.

The investigation took officers back to March 18, when Miller stopped a 26-year-old male who was driving 16 miles per hour over the speed limit and acknowledged on an audio recording that he had consumed alcohol, Peter said in his affidavit.

While Officer Miller was in his patrol car and after his initial interaction with the man he stopped, "you can hear what appears to be the sound of a zipper opening and/or closing," Peter said.

"Officer Miller did not issue any motor vehicle summonses, nor investigate (the man) for driving while intoxicated, despite the driver's admission to consuming alcohol and coming directly from a bar," Peter said.

On Oct. 23, Miller stopped a 22-year-old male who was leaving O'Reilly's Pub sometime after midnight and the young man noticed the officer's zipper was down and his genitals were exposed, Peter said in his affidavit. The young man said Miller asked him several times where he was going and where he lived, and that made him "uncomfortable."

During a review of the video recording of the interview, "it appears that Officer Miller's zipper is open" and his genitals were visible, Peter said. The young man drove home and was not issued a ticket, Peter said.

Miller's attorney, Anthony Iacullo, said his client is innocent.

"Officer Miller is an excellent officer who vehemently denies these allegations, as they are false and baseless," Iacullo said in a statement. "We are confident that when this matter is heard in a court of law, Mr. Miller will be exonerated of all the charges."

Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office at 973-383-1570.

A suburban Denver man charged with pushing his wife to her death off a cliff in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park could not explain to investigators why he had a park map with an “X” drawn at the spot where she fell.

Newly unsealed court documents say Harold Henthorn denied using the map during the deadly September 29, 2012, hike.

But he told friends that he scouted out the park’s steep and craggy terrain at least six times, trying to find the perfect place to take Toni to celebrate their 12th year of marriage
