Christmas was Pagan: Myth
Posted by: BirthofChrist ()
Date: November 21, 2014 07:48PM

Christmas celebration does not have origins in Paganism. That is actually a false teaching that came from the Puritans in the 17th Century. Yet people still believe this myth, and its taught by mainstream scholars.

This video explains. Christmas actually came before the Pagan holiday or Winter Solstice.

Yes, that might be true. But let's face it, Christmas is just another commercial gimmick so that retailers can unload their "me too" items on the general Public. Christmas has gone to hell in a handbasket.

You obviously haven't seen Kirk Cameron's "Saving Christmas" movie. It's a blockbuster. Academy awards look out!

It WAS a pagan holiday... Fusion of Saturnalia and the birthday of Sol. Saturnalia predates Christmas by centuries

lol, I saw parts of it. there's one scene where his "miserable atheist" brother in law complains that Christsmas is bad because it's all about materialsm, yada yada. But Kirk says that's ok- because Jesus represents the material being of God in the physical world. God became a material being through his son Jesus, so like "Yayyyy Materialism, materialism is great!"

It's seriously on that level of stupidity.

This is a great video that explains many of the Christmas traditions and discusses Fox News' War on Christmas.

Actually the OP is correct somewhat. Many people think Christmas trees for example are Pagan. They actually had nothing to do with Pagan traditions

The Christmas tree started in about 1500 Germany by Protestant Leader Martin Luther. Story has it that he was walking through a snowy forest one Christmas Eve and saw a beautiful fir tree in the moonlight and decided to cut it down and put it in his home. He lighted the tree that night with candles. The candles represent the Christmas Star of the East over Bethlehem and Jesus Christ as the light of the world. The Christmas tree in that sense doesn't have any ties to Pagan tradition of "bringin in the greens"- a separate thing. But Muslisms and Atheists perpetuate this false idea to detract from the Christian celebration.

Wrong. The Christmas tree is made of wood and represents the cross that Jesus was crucified on. The lights represent the light of God, and the angel at the top of the tree represents the angels.

I will acknowledge that Christmas Trees are Christian. But the question was regarding Christmas in general.

Numbers (and all your clones),

What are you afraid of?

Why do other's beliefs terrify you so much that you actively campaign against something you say doesn't exist?

Oh no...stop it. My side hurts from laughing to hard.

Seriously, what are you afraid of?

Could it be that you're wrong?

Dunno bout Numbers, but I'm not campaigning against Christianity. I'm campaigning against historical ignorance. Feel free to practice Christmas as a Christian holiday, but don't try to tell people that it wasn't influenced by pagan holidays.

Influenced? Most probably.

Based on? Pretty much not at all.

See the difference? Sadly, probably not.

Of course i understand the difference. OP, however, did not define "originate", and so i had to take a guess.
