Route 50 Road Trip

What's the furthest anyone here has gone on route 50? I'm thinking about taking a road trip to California just staying on route 50.

I've gone as far as Cincinnati. Its great in good weather but Hell if it
isnt. Going up mountains in W. Va. in a heavy downpour is like going up
current in a river. I certainly wouldnt try it if there was even a slight
chance of snow or ice. (unless you have a snow-truck with chains). Good
mom-and-pop restaurants along the way. Gasoline is expensive so fill up
in Winchester. Mountaineer Inn in Parkersburg is cheap and good. Locals
are entertaining and friendly. Almost forgot. Even in good weather if you
get stuck behind a log truck going up or down a mountain pull over a wait
a few minutes. Its easier than crawling behind for 20 minutes and not being
able to pass going down because of the curves. Athens, Ohio is beautiful
and further down the road there are many tiny towns that are extremely
friendly to tourists. Enjoy.

So how long do you think you will deal with the stop-and-go of a two-lane highway with stop lights and stop signs before you say, "fuck it" and get on I-70?

I still prefer it in good weather. Easy traffic except for an occasional
log or dump truck. (hate those Interstates) I like to break it up into
a two day trip and stay overnight in Parkersburg. It takes six hours from
Parkersburg to Fairfax. Easy to adjust the timing to arrive back here
before the rush hour. To each his own, but the scenic route is fine
for me. Much less stressful.
