Cheaper Alternatives to Starbucks

Starbucks is nice every once in a while, but their prices make me opt for McDonald's most days. McDonald's large iced-coffee is stupidly big and only costs me $2. Starbucks large (Venti) iced-coffee is $3 and comes in a smaller cup than the McDonald's large. To get a similar amount, you would have to move up to their "Trenta" size at $3.45. Maybe my taste buds aren't so distinguished, but I really can't justify the $1.45 price bump when they both taste the same to me.

I've never tried Dunkin Donuts, but would be interested to see what their prices are. Any recommendations?

Buy a pound of Folgers at the store and make your own at home. It'll cost you about 25 cents a cup.

Exactly. Or if you like Starbucks coffee, buy a pound, make your own at home, and cut your cost by about 75%.

Peets. They've opened a few locations locally recently.

I was on a $3k a year Starbucks habit for years until one day, I realized, WTF, this tastes like shit.

I buy coffee in bulk now. It doesn't really matter what blend of brand, so long as it tastes good and smooth.

Starbucks coffee is terrible. Really taste it next time. Don't shy away from McDonalds. It's much cheaper and either the same or better than Starbucks. Never worse. Added bonus... you have the drive-thru option with McD. Not always true with Starbucks.

Next time you come to the West coast you should try Dutch Brothers Coffee. They have a great business with excellent customer service.
