Driving to Florida on Christmas day ... What kind of traffic can I expect on 95south?
Posted by: Commuter ()

So planning to drive to Florida on Christmas Day. Somebody told us that the traffic is terrible all the way, but especially through the Carolinas. Anybody have any experience with making the drive on Christmas?

Leave DC early, you will be fine. We have gone to south GA 5 or 6 times on xmas day via 95 and no issues with traffic or gas.

Be prepared for the trolls about to post..

Ive driven to Daytona Beach several times to race the week between Xmas and New Years. We always left NOVA on Xmas day. Traffic is a breeze. Finding a decent place to eat not so breezy. Take some munchies. Whatever you do dont stop at South of the Border for anything more than gas.

I go Alexandria to North Miami Beach every Christmas and my best time to cover that trip which is roughly 1,000 miles...is 14 hours, 2 minutes. Porsche 911 GT3.

Leaving Christmas Day you should be fine. If you leave on the last day of school before the Christmas break you're fucked all the way until Fredericksburg.

Why not take the car train down overnight and wake up there the next morning? Cant cost too much more than gas and the cost of being tired and stressed from 14-16 hours on I-95

Auto train kicks ass but it's not cheap. Coach will cost you a couple hundred per person. Car will be around $180. I don't know how many of your there are but expect to spend a grand for a family of four

In addition the AT goes to Sanford so you still have a 4-5 hour drive to Miami

Yes we have taken the Auto Train multiple times. It is sold out however for the time we need it. Will take a chance on driving on Christmas Day. Thanks.

Make sure to stop in NC near I40. Great hookers there, like this one and her sister.

Can you provide a little more info? Are they just found wandering about or are they at a bar/whore house?

Odd but true. Keep an eye on the weather and your gas tank - I usually fill up when I get much below a half, just in case. I do this even though I don't think I've ever had much trouble finding a place open along 95, day or night.

More info:

Blond's name was Christy. She and her sister were hanging out in the lobby of the hotel we stayed at, don't remember which one.

I'm guessing my buddy got their information, he sent me a pic of hooking up with the brunette again for a private party with some guys he took down to Raleigh a while back.
