CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - Police in South Texas say a man accidentally shot and killed his 16-year-old brother when the man removed a handgun from a holster and it discharged.

Corpus Christi police said in a statement that the brothers had gathered Sunday evening to watch a television show when the older brother, who's 24, removed the gun from the holster.

Investigators say a single shot accidentally discharged and struck the teen in the chest.

The teen was transported to a hospital where he died. Authorities have not released the names of the brothers.

Senior Officer Marc Harrod told the Corpus Christi Caller-Times that the brothers' mother was with them and witnessed the shooting.

No charges have been filed in the matter.

I'm sure the Mom just turned to her older son and said

"I guess that won't buff out. Don't worry son. Accident. Move on."

The difference is that a car serves a useful purpose besides accidentally killing people. FOr most people, a gun does not, it is designed to kill. That's what guns do. The are needed, but not by the average person.

Crime doesn't affect the average person?

So a gun accidentally kill a family member. Happens all the time with guntards.

It's just part of being a gun owner.

Sometimes a family gets killed by accident. It's a small price to pay for family safety.

Public transportation not good enough for you liberals?

I would like to mention that vehicles require licenses unlike guns. Yet, people still seem to be terrible drivers. So do you think licensing guns would make them safer in some way?

Nope, it doesn't. Only about 600/year out of a population of +300 million with just about as many guns.

As unlikely as it is, you're more likely to die in a plane crash than by being accidentally shot.

Small price to pay? When it is your kid, it isn't a small price to pay.

Nor is it when it happens in many other common ways in far greater numbers. You just don't post all of those because they don't fit your interests and aren't promoted for political purposes.

Regardless how many of these you post, they'll still end up being a relatively tiny number in the scheme of things. About 600/year. Which has steadily decreased even as the numbers of guns and gun owners has increased by 10s of millions/year.

Just think how much shitier people would drive if there were no requirements to get drivers licenses
