A simulated explosion for the filming of a TV pilot will take place on Wednesday, March 25 between 9:30 a.m. and noon near Key Bridge in the District. The explosion will produce a 20 to 30' fireball that will last approximately 2 minutes.
The explosion will take place on the Potomac River just north of the Key Bridge and Jack's Boathouse (K / Water Street, NW under the Whitehurst Freeway). Please be aware that this is NOT a real emergency situation.
In the scene to be filmed, there will be six (6) sculling boats on the Potomac River and one of them blows up. CBS Paramount television is filming a pilot titled "Washington Field." This is a new television series about the elite Washington field office of the FBI and a team of agents with exceptional and diverse skills who are called together for only the most critical cases.

If these are the kind of one-man boats that I think they're talking about, it should be interesting. Those one-man singles weigh about 23lbs soaking wet, and are about 9 feet long and about a foot wide. They're gonna have to pack that boat tight with a shitload of explosives to get a 'fireball' that big, if the damn thing doesn't sink first.

If that's one of the scenes from the pilot, this show must suck. Ooh, a rower blew up. Don't want to miss an episode of that high-octane thrill-a-thon.
