Two sides to this story:

The guy says he never walks downtown, so this means he is going to be the outider nobody sees and he has a gun. Yes, guns do cause anxiety...even to us "guntards" who own guns. I think it's ok that the police were curious. Better safe than sorry. And, the guy was being difficult by not wanting to show ID.

On the other hand, it's not the guy's fault that non-gun people don't know the law. He was well within his rights to carry. And I'd say it was nearly trespassing on his rights to stop and ask for identification when he wasn't breaking a law. Using this as an example (though extreme) why don't cops stop everyone who isn't breaking a law.

Anyway, I own plenty or guns and I still side with the police in this instance for their curiosity. He admitted that he doesn't go downtown. This makes him stand out further. Better safe than sorry.

Looks to me like the cop was schooled on the law by the other cop much the same way Fairfax cops had to learn when OC was first becoming popular.

I grew up in a town where OC is legal and quite common. The folks there are used to it much the same way Fairfax residents are becoming accustomed to it here.

Even Texas which is the Guntard capital of the world doesn't allow open carry.
We need to get the law changed. The majority of people are opposed to it and it attracts nuts. They can go somewhere else to replace their penis by proxy.

With the exception of some urban areas of Texas, the open carrying of shotguns and rifles is legal. Only handguns are specifically prohibited for open carry.
