Texans should be suing people like Ted Cruz for all the crazy the electric bills they are getting. $12,000 electric bills? INSANE!

This crisis was entirely predictable. A model built around the idea that more electricity is being produced than is being consumed just does not work when the surplus production shrinks drastically or disappears entirely.

I agree help is needed. No one should be stuck with charges that ludicrous from a public utility. But it should not be a bailout with taxpayers footing the bill. Those companies should be forced to dig into their own pockets to bail these people out.

They are not "public utilities". They are energy resellers. They buy electricity from producers at spot prices and then sell it to consumers on a cost plus basis. These customers were willing to play the game when spot energy prices were low. Now they have to pay for it.
