Has anyone with a southern accent won the Nobel Peace Prize or done anything worth mentioning at all? When I hear them whining about uneducated blacks speaking ebonics and acting superior, I can't but laugh. From my point of view, there is no difference.

Other than the real way the southern accent came about which was settlers from Ireland into the blueridge mountains I used to think that when a person was born with down syndrome then mother kept having normal babies and the babies learned how to speak from the oldest first born child with his downs speech impediment.

Virginians in the late 1700's did not have "southern" accents. They most likely spoke in "restoration english" accents, the kind that now only exist in remote places like Tangier Island. Fast forward about 45 seconds in:

Actually, the Plantation Speech drawl typified Aristocratic Virginians, and Carolinians, through Georgia. It came from Upper Crust 18th Century London Speech. The drawl can be heard amongst the Royal Family, although the reason it is different is that speech here was heavily influenced by the Negroes. The Tangier Island speech is something different having settlers unique that that region from Cornwall England. Southern Appalachia gets it speech from Soctch-Irish settlers.

Although that is interesting, you do realize that this original post is just troll bait?

Ok smarty pants explain why ebonic speech is the same..ax, doe knob, truff,po po..cray..etc.

colonial accents didn't sound anything like accents we hear today. neither southern nor northern. George Mason would have sounded nothing like a southern drawl.

Not really... Southern accents simply change how words sound when spoken, not actually altering the structure of the word itself. Emphasis may be placed on different parts of a word. Ebonics is the result of being uneducated and/or ignorant. It takes the proper English language and shits all over it.

Southern accents result from growing up in the southern region of our country. Ebonics results from growing up in urban, low-income areas.
