What history doesn't teach people:

America's first slave owner was a black man

Anthony Johnson was a Negro from modern-day Angola. He was brought to the US to work on a tobacco farm in 1619. In 1622 he was almost killed when Powhatan Indians attacked the farm. 52 out of 57 people on the farm perished in the attack. He married a female black servant while working on the farm.

When Anthony was released he was legally recognized as a “free Negro” and ran a successful farm. In 1651 he held 250 acres and five black indentured servants. In 1654, it was time for Anthony to release John Casor, a black indentured servant. Instead Anthony told Casor he was extending his time. Casor left and became employed by the free white man Robert Parker.

Anthony Johnson sued Robert Parker in the Northampton Court in 1654. In 1655, the court ruled that Anthony Johnson could hold John Casor indefinitely. The court gave judicial sanction for blacks to own slave of their own race. Thus Casor became the first permanent slave and Johnson the first slave owner.

From Fox:

"SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California state government departments will be prohibited from selling or displaying items with an image of the Confederate flag under a bill that passed the Assembly on Monday."

I doubt if overall sales will decline if only the "state government" departments
don't carry them anymore. I bought mine in Richmond.

Not accurate. Though Casor was the first person declared a slave in a civil case, there were both black and white indentured servants sentenced to lifetime servitude before him. When you pull up stuff from sites like the Counsel of Conservative Citizens, you get this bullshit. Somehow, they think this crap justifies their racism.

This is probably a violation of the 1st Amendment. If this goes to court, I can't see it being upheld.

Not one single slave ship carried the Confederate Battle flag. Firstly , also, many of those poor farmboys in Lee's army were just fightin' for their homes. Just good' ol boys in grey. Too bad the Yankees raped all the women and burned thousands of farms and land.

What? Democrat senator Byrd, KKK member, filibustered the civil rights act along with All Gore's daddy. Democrats fought the bill for a decade. Republicans ended the filibuster and a larger percentage of republicans voted for passage of the bill than dems.

They knew what they were fighting for, and believe me, they supported slavery too. Read McPherson's For Cause and Comrades.

Ive never understood the flying of Dixie and it being allowed. The South was an enemy of the United States. Essentially people are supporting a foreign government on US soil.

The civil war is part of our history and should never be forgotten. It is what helped shape this nation, republicans freeing the slaves. In America we have the right to fly any flag we want to. I know libs hate that. Unless of course it's illegals flying a Mexican flag.
