Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi ridiculed for flashy wristwatch

The Islamic State leader prompts confusion among his followers after appearing in his first public address wearing a wristwatch that resembles an expensive Omega or Rolex.

Just like the Russian Orthodox clergy that wear $100k+ watches. They are all self-serving frauds.

Hopefully this watch incident discredits him.

Nothing new, what dictator or communist hasn't lived the life while the dregs starve. From the Kim family in North Korea who drive around in Mercedes while the regular folk walk to Saddam to Quadafi to Pol Pot to Stalin. These molims with their "cult of personality" are not far behind.

That looks like a $5 watch. It's no Rolex or Omega. It's too small to be a Datejust and their no date magnifier. Omega doesn't make a watch in that oyster case style. Cheap $5 Rolex, maybe

So i am wondering, do these people seriously think that painting over a map of the world and writing that weird language all over it is a good idea?

I mean, most people look at it and laugh, but do they look at it and say, fuck yeah, sounds like a reasonable plan to me!

It's a propaganda video. The video is staged so that the watch will be noticed. Note that he makes repeated gestures almost strictly with his right hand where he wears his watch. Most people would wear the watch on their off-hand since they a watch on the primary hand becomes a nuisance. They also wear it there because it's easier to take on and off using the strong hand.
