Bunion surgery

I have some pretty bad bunions and the only treatment seems to be surgery.

There are reports that I wouldn't be able to bend my big toe possibly.

Just thought you might want to know.

It hurts.

Big toes are over rated.

Don’t need your big toe for any thing. Have it chopped off. No big toe no bunions.

My mother had surgery to remove her bunions about 12 years ago. Her bunions were very painful and although the recovery was a bitch post-surgery, she felt a lot better about 3-4 months afterwards. She even got in to doing a daily jog. Something she never would have dreamed of doing before her surgery. She's never complained about not being able to bend toes or anything like that.

For her, it was the pain she felt in her feet post surgery. She complained of shooting pains throughout her feet and the area where the bunions were removed for several weeks afterwards. This was even with pain killers. She was in a wheel chair for two weeks and really couldn't move around. She was in her late 50's though, so her age might have had something to do with it. Not sure what your situation Is age/health wise, but I have talked to others that have had the surgery that really didn't have much pain a week afterwards.

Late 20s. Slightly overweight.

I read that the pain post op is usually from the way your feet are below your heart and blood can rush there.

I'm going to look more into it
I really appreciate your response. It's nice to have an actual adult discussion for once.
