But you're not due yet for an early liver upgrade, so you'll have to pay full retail price.

Everyone interested in an iPad already knew about this. Apple made this clear when they announced it and even said the 3G version wasn't going to be available until May.

No one is surprised about this at all.

True. But it is dumbfounding how people will rush out and by the non-3G version knowing full well that a version with more functionality is about to hit the shelves. You know a bunch of these people will buy both. Mind-boggling.

There are people (techno-nerds) that do that with all types of technology, such as TV's, computers, phones, cars, cameras, etc... . It's unfair to limit that to Apple products. The goofballs that you're referring to simply have more money than brains, but if they can afford to do that, power to them.

seriously WTL how have you kept your faith in the intelligence of humanity until now? i lost mine in the 3rd grade.

Some guy on the PC site was talking about people on his commuter train using the iPad to read books. What a nice, sweet gift for a thief, or a mugger. Maybe if someone simply gets mad enough, they'll grab the thing and smash it over the user's head.

The staggered release was announced at the iPad announcement event, this isn't news.

And personally I would get the WiFi-only version if I were to buy it. Why would I pay $130 or whatever more for a $10 part (the 3G radio) when I wouldn't pay for a data plan to use it in my WiFi-capable house and workplace? The devices are otherwise identical.
