God loves you unconditionally

Don't be fooled by the satanist trying to doom you to Hell. The truth is, you must seek God's love to find it. You must seek God's grace to receive it. You must seek His face to know him. Seek God and you will know unconditional love. Don't and you won't.

The only true God. The One in the Bible. Perhaps other cultures called God Zeus or Jupiter or Odin or Allah or Krishna or whatever. Perhaps other cultures believe that angels were less gods. But there is only one God. Accept that. Then accept Him. You'll be better for it.

Same goes for Sasquatch. If you seek His love, he will reward you with His kindness and grace. Blessed are those who hear the call of Bigfoot and keep it in their hearts.

If you want to spread your God stuff here, that’s your 1st amendment right.

Yet it’s almost my first amendment right to refute your argument. I will not say there’s a god, but rather not evidence to suggest such a determination.

You speak of satan, of which there’s no evidence to support the existence of. Here’s what can be proven. Human beings are primates. Evolution is real. Psychopaths exist in all forms of mammals including chimpanzees, our closest relative animal wise. The “evil” you speak of comes from psychopaths, and religion sadly stole the golden rule for its own purposes.

Name one thing an atheist/anti theist can’t do that’s good that a religion can. And if God is so great, why is he such a capricious spiteful individual especially in the Old Testament. What God would ask a parent to kill their child to prove their devotion? Mental illness at best. Talking snakes and the Noah’s ark, sure have fun with that delusion. I’m so happy appreciating the beauty of the stars or a amazing architectural building than looking for a burning bush.

The only artifact in human possession that cannot be duplicated even with modern technology is the shroud of Turin.

Science is baffled and humiliated by it.

The first record of the shroud was by a catholic bishop in the 1390s who attested that it was a forgery made by some artist. Carbon dating also dates it to the late 1300’s. It’s really not too baffling.

The evidence of the existence of God exists through miracles that occur even today, near and after death experiences, the laws of physics and the application of logical arguments. This isn't the first time we've had this discussion here. This isn't you is it Jesse?

What evidence is there? There have been a lot of explorations yet nothing found. And where have the laws of nature, have they been suspended in “Gods favor?” Which miracles? I’m not angry, just intellectually curious to learning the scientific evidence you can present. For instance churches are always interfering with science, but you don’t see scientists interfering with Sunday school as they are actually accomplishing something. Also if they don’t know the answer, they’ll be the first to say I don’t know. How do you have this knowledge that the rest of us or I don’t have?

Go to those threads. Almost everything has been hashed and rehashed there, including what you're asking.

And scientists are not the first to say they don't know. They, as often, say "I'm not sure, but here's another THEORY to answer your question about my other 10 THEORIES that I have". Knowing and theorizing are not the same.

Churches aren't religion. And science isn't some monolithic institution. Science is a method (for lack of a better word) or approach for seeking knowledge. Your use of the word indicates you don't understand what it is. You might as well say "churches are always interfering with math" of "logic". "Interfering" (whatever that means) with conclusions of scientists is not the same thing. Scientists are just as fallible and prejudiced as the rest of us. So are pastors btw.

I know things that you don't know the same way scientists know things that you don't know. I seek knowledge out. You haven't sought the knowledge, so you don't have it. Seek and ye shall find my friend.

Nope. They can't figure out the pigment. The uniform depth of pigment and the 3 dimensional properties of the image.

It cannot be explained

Nice attempt to dance and manipulate. I appreciate the actually somewhat impressive word choices, but yet again where is the evidence of Jesus and of God?

First off let’s both agree, eye witness testimony is the least qualified measurement. Scary as it can be used in a court of law. That notwithstanding, where is Jesus scientifically? Where’s Noah’s ark? The talking snake? The burning bush? Start me out in a way to seek as seeking invisible entities to me doesn’t seem sane. I could agree we are all wired differently, and that people who worship Jesus, Buddha, and Allah can be decent people. Yet at the same time I could literally show you how they also are bad, as in how religion can poison the psychopathic mind even more.

Please enlighten me as lots of words, zero evidence.

Hicthen's Razor:

That which can be presented as true with a lack of evidence, can be dismissed with a lack of evidence.

Or something like that.

Basically says, if "you gotta believe, in order to believe"...you don't gotta believe.

Also, people say..."the evidence is all around you! Isn't god great?"...well, how do you know all this wasn't done by space aliens waaaaaaay smarter than us?

So, you're not willing to read the other threads that I suggested then? I linked it to the juicy parts so you wouldn't have to go through 10 pages of whether or not Lon Solomon is the devil :o)

Can you sum up the logistics of noah's ark for me?

So, noah was in fact 600 years old?

And, 2 of each animal was on this ark for 40 days?

Like, all 10,000 species of reptile, 5,000 species of birds?

And, according to ark encounter...actual living dinosaurs (I guess in order to comport with the teaching that earth was created in its entirety in 7 days, some time before the ark...so therefore, dinosaurs weren't "pre-history" as we might know it, but part of our world)?

How did Kangaroos and Koala Bears, and other Australian land animals get there?

How did new world animals get there?

How did not one animal die...

How did these animals then re-populate the world in 6,000 years? Including getting back to the far corners of the world where they were from and now reside?

Why didn't the sabre tooth tigers eat the regular tigers?

How hard was it to raise bamboo for the Panda Bears?

Where did all that water come from? Where did it go?

ADMIT IT...IF YOU HAD TO ARGUE THIS CRAP IN A COURT OF LAW, YOU'D PROBABLY BE SENT AWAY.

BUT, YOU WANT A PASS ON ANYTHING LOGICAL...CUS, JEGUS.

Rather silly, isn't it?

You see, just as we believed in sandy clause and the easter bunny when were kids, so too did ancient people believe in this crap.

The world was also believed to be flat.

Why not peel the BS away?

Stupidly, I clicked on one of the links above by one of the bible beaters.

Typical bible BS...they get real, real, real complicated...weird little "facts" and quotes from the bible that make no sense...and then a "therefore...god".

Of course, when presented with real science that might refute their silly beliefs, it is dismissed.

You know, pesky little BS like a round world, and dinosaurs, evolution...all that BS.

The other tactic is to get real stupidly simple...as in, look all around you..."therefore, god".

Of course, they try and muddy up real life discussions about such things as just how did the ark work (see above), and then default to, "you just gotta believe, and if you believe, you'll believe" which is basically an endorsement for believing in ANYTHING.

Then they secretly realize, there is NO WAY they can extricate themselves from their silly little bible world, because they've told everybody what a good little believer they are, and their bible friends would come to hate them.

So, they then just say, you are evil and don't understand.

Of course. While millions of people were suffering and dying from plagues, famines, and wars during the middle ages, God was busying himself with pigment manufacturing techniques, for the purpose of befuddling scientists who would live hundreds of years in the future.

At least most superstitious people understand what they do just becomes a patterned behavior in their life for no real reason.

At least, many do.

Like the guy that puts on his left shoe before the right shoe before a game...

Says, "I dunno know...i Just did once, and had a great game...been doing it ever since. Just part of my routine now."

And...I think that might describe thousands of years of bible thumping.

People just brought up that way, and not rewarded, or brave enough, to think about what they are doing.

So they continue...they've got other things to worry about.

Do they realize, though, that if they were born in Afghanistan, they might be praying to the wrong god right now?

No thanks. Lon Solomon the Devil? That’s funny. Prove the existence of the devil first.

I wonder why Christianity and Islam were created in the most poor illiterate parts of the world. So God sat on his/her/it’s ass for thousands of years with indifference until deciding to save humanity? Oh and yes an illiterate sailor remember the entire Koran Allah told him? Hilarious.

It’s so much better to think for yourself and not for an invisible entity that probably doesn’t exist and no I’m not playing Pascal’s wager. Honesty is far more important and less dangerous than any religion. You’re also an atheist by the way. Do you worship Zeus or Athena?

Or if god loves unconditionally, why does this entity allow men to rape their own children for 20 plus years? Or kidnap them via religion like Elizabeth Smart? And how say we born in sin? No we’re not. We are primates. Animals. Yes we may be the most dominant primate but genetically one more chromosome than a chimpanzee.

Thank you OP for speaking the Truth in Love.

"Seek God an live" - Amos 5:6

Hebrews 9: 27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, 28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

For thousands of years people couldn’t explain electricity either. Even the most learned and gifted men couldn’t account for what it was.

That didn’t prove it was Zeus firing it down from his fingertips.

Really?

That is as good as you can do?

Quoting some 2,000 year old glorified comic book?

Are you one of those "I believe in god 'cus the bible. I believe in the bible 'cus god" folks?

You ever do some real serious thinking, or just memorize and quote bible passages mindlessly?

It’s basically a 2,000 year old Fifty Shades of Grey at best. It’s everyones right to read or like this nonsense if they like, but please keep this literary garbage at your houses or places of worship where God will take your money. It’s interesting how the all knowing all loving god always needs money. Or as the late George Carlin said “You’re going to hell but Jesus loves you.” Sadomasochist drivel.

Well, I'm not going to retype what's in those threads, which address your questions. For those of you who are willing to go read the other threads, the answers to BM's questions are there.

Do you also wonder why Christianity then spread to the most 'civilized' parts of the world thereafter? Rapidly (in historical terms) at that.

Being a Christian and think for oneself are not exclusive. A true believer comes to their faith by seeking and then finding the truth. What is more 'thinking for yourself' than that?

Pascal's wager is really just faith of the unsure. It's better to risk believing in God than risk going to Hell. You can be very sure that there is no afterlife and that God is just a magic, invisible entity that probably doesn't exist (hard to reconcile 'very sure' with 'probably' however). But it's just your opinion. Your 'faith' as it were.

God doesn't allow bad things to happen. He has removed His protective hand from us. If man wants to make his own choice absent from God's laws, then he must be willing to suffer the consequences of those choices. Jesus showed us all how to live. If everyone lived as He instructed, we would be in paradise.

By your thinking, we're really just evolved blades of grass. I find that ridiculous to believe. But that's where your macro-evolutionary beliefs lead you to. Silly.

No your arguments are silly and don’t hold a candle to reason. Socrates and his “daemons, ie. conscience “ hold weight even though that’s from years ago.

Plenty of Silence after the grave. But in most religions that’s where the party begins. So the suspension of atomic molecular construction, proven, to unproven afterlife in heaven or hell. What scientifically proves either exists? None.

It’s your right to believe such bullshit. But I’d rather think for myself as a human being, quietly enjoying acts of kindness with no reward, and just engaging with fellow primates and being a decent human being. You don’t need a god/religion to be a good person and treat others well.

The Bible is one of, if the THE, most influential book of all time. It is not only the written Word of God, but also a historical account of His people over the course of thousands of years, a book of prophecy, an awesome self-help book and a book full of sage advice and wisdom Yeah, it's basically just a cheap dime store novel. Major fail BM.

God doesn't need money. God doesn't need anything.

Jesus loves His children. We are not all His children. We are all God's creations, infused with a spark of a divine soul/spirit. Followers of God are His children. Read the Bible. It's all explained in there.

No, your arguments are silly. See how useless it is to go back and forth between two people who believe (key word here BM) they are right.

You keep going back to the phrase 'think for myself' as if rejection of God is somehow liberation to greater self-awareness. It is you right to believe (there's that word again) such silliness, but I'd rather know that I have a purpose of being and that there are certain undeniable truths that come from the One who created everything. Knowing that our rights and our individual liberties come, not because some government says we can have them, but because that is the plan of God for all or us. And when a government or society decides that we no longer have those rights or individual liberties, they are working against the plan of God for mankind and His prescribed absolute morality for us. Otherwise, whatever the government decides is okay and moral is okay and moral. And that never leads to more freedom or liberty. Always, it leads to more death, more misery and more division. No thanks.

Once one is spiritually able to see beyond this temporary life, able to grasp, who Jesus Christ is, because God's spirit enables him or her, then one can make a decision to accept God's gift of forgiveness through Jesus who paid the penalty for sin for every human being in the world.

When your appointed time comes, accept Christ and his forgiveness and accept him as Lord over your life. Then you will live out eternity in Peace with God and his followers.

If you reject the invitation of the Holy Spirit to accept Jesus' atonement for your sins, you will become twice dead and be banished to a place of judgement where torment never ends.

Also, if one seeks God with all there heart, God will reveal himself to them and they will find salvation from the punishment of their sins in Jesus.

Forgiveness of all your sins.

The Bible has been disproven. It’s at best mans first attempt o explain things. Earthquakes and other phenomenon were always due to “displeasing God.” The stars were only dots of light. Earthquakes=Teutonic plates. Leprosy in the Bible is either epilepsy or mental illness.

Crucifixions and resurrections were common in the Bible. Thus the argument of Jesus resurrection making him divine is moot.

Christian fiction was correct when Costco listed it as such. Do you stone your gay neighbors? Do you think before the Ten Commandments people were okay with raping and murdering with it being all good? Oops the verses about leaving the sheep and virgins alone, hmmm wonder why that is.

Again no evidence. Like I said believe what you want. It’s not fact.

If that’s what you think, as I’m an NRA Republican and voted for and will be re-electing President Trump in 2020.

If you think gravity is a theory too, why don’t you walk off a tall building and see what happens. For comparing me to Gerry, your education is obviously very rudimentary.

Obviously you are a graduate of a liberal arts school who never learned the difference between facts and fiction or laws and theory.

The Bible has never been disproved. In fact, they are discovering more evidence of it's historical accuracy all the time.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say all earthquakes are due to God's displeasure. Or all disease. Or all famine. Or all solar eclipses.... In some instances, God used natural phenomenon to get the attention of His people. The stars are lights in the sky that were created. Nothing more. Nothing less. The Bible never speaks to what they are other than that or specifically how they are created or new stars can not be created.

Neither crucifixions nor resurrections were common place in the Bible. Raising the dead in the Bible is ALWAYS a demonstration of God's power of death. It happens maybe 10 times in the entire Bible. afaik, the only specific individuals mentioned in the Bible who are crucified are Jesus and the two thieves next to him. While it is mentioned that early followers of Christ were martyred, including crucifixion, they aren't specific.

There are still many cultures in this very world, at this very time, that are okay with rape and murder - as long as the right people are doing it and the right people are having it done to them. You do know that, right? And of course a Christian wouldn't stone anyone. It was Christ himself who said, "Let he who is without sin, let him cast the first stone." The teachings of Christ are peace and love. And, of course, get right with God.

You keep posting the same thing over and over as if it is somehow illuminating the 5th time around. You do realize you're posting your opinions don't you?

Okay, well I’m sorry a B.S. in Applied Mathematics, and a M.S in Mechanical Engineering from VT aren’t up to your so extremely above the rubicon standards. Your seductive reasoning abilities imply you had a lot traumatic brain injuries.

And Jesus “meek and mild,” was certainly not modest. “I am the truth I am the way I’m the life.” We both are using opinions, although I’m using scientific analysis to disprove your points and why it’s called “faith.” It’s not truth. If it helps you cope or enjoy life more do so, but you’re not going to win them all. The world is becoming more secular every day, and each second a star equivalent to our sun explodes. The Bible doesn’t have a leg to stand up on science and I think we can agree they are not compatible. Humans are pattern seeking mammals, that like stories and explanations for phenomena beyond their comprehension. The reason for most being religious is a fear of death and dying. It’s okay as I don’t want to experience a painful death nor wish that upon anyone. Once dead nothing to fear as simply wont exist, and the flora and fauna I’ve dined on get their chance.

I wish you well as I think your intentions are good, but I don’t need to be “saved” by some Orwellian celestial being that no data is recorded of. Is it possible a god or higher power exists? Sure. But the evidence is sad to say laughable.

Ah...the old "it has been around for a long time and a lot of people believe it...therefore it must be true" fallacy.

The idea that the world was flat was around a long time and a lot of people believed that, too.

God doesn't need money? Are you high?

Try telling your church folk that.

Send your electric bills to jegus, c/o heaven.

What a moron.

That is the old "you gotta believe to believe. If you do that, you'll be a believer" deal.

Nope,

Not divine, or anything like that. Don't fool yourself.

People can be conned into anything. Especially if they want to be.

God dam it is funny, and stupid, that you think man's rights come from some notion of god.

What a dumbass. I wonder how slaves over time felt about that.

Especially considering that the bible goes to great length and detail to describe the conditions of slave ownership.

And which god do we need to thank for our freedom?

Zeus? Allah? Abraham or whoever, huh?

You make such an empty statement with no fact. It is basically, here is what I believe, it is morally superior, therefore, you are evil.

What a dick.

Did some jag-off above say that the bible has never been dis-proven of anything?

Well, that may technically be true, as it might actually be impossible to disprove stupid stories that took place over 2,000 years ago...and it is impossible to dis-prove things that don't exist, right?

But...

Are you really gonna believe the world was created in 6 days?

You really gonna tell me you think the ark is real? Go to one of the posts above where all those logistical questions about the ark are...really...answer them. None of this silly god did it stuff.

So, while these things might be difficult of impossible to dis-prove, go ahead and PROVE them.

Beyond that silly drivel "they're in the bible".

If you knew anything about the "Scientific Method" is that Science will never PROVE something is true. They just eliminate the false and go with the best model to fit the data points. Technically Einstein falsified Newtonian Mechanics. Pragmatically, Newton left out a parameter for relativity which is negligible if velocities involved are not near the speed of light. Technology today is still mostly driven by Newtonian Mechanics, but certain things like the GPS in your phone require taking relativistic parameters into account. This process is not a failure of Science this is instead one of its strengths. Science corrects itself. When a theory gets discarded and a new one established, this is done by Scientists themselves.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." [Carl Sagan, 1987 CSICOP keynote address]

so some jag-off just said "knowing and theorizing are not the same" in defense in a belief in jegus?

Really...if examined scientifically, I am not sure the whole jegus myth rises anywhere near a theory level....much less a "know" level.

The best jegus folks can do to prove jegus is the old "look around you...he is everywhere" trick.

Holy religious drivel BS.

He didn't.

I just asked to bring back my dead mother. Nope. (Funny thing about my mother...she said she was come back AT ALL COSTS and "ghost" me if she could...she even gave me a few pre-arranged signals. She said she would do it within 18 mos. Going on 20 years now...and...nothing).

I just asked him to give me a million dollars. no.

I just said, OK, have a sparrow fly across my window, and I will forever believe!!! And spread the word!!! You know, something simple.

Nope.

I must not have faith, huh?

weird.

Theory?

It doesn't even rise to the level of 'Hypothesis'.

More along the lines of 'conjecture' like a belief in Big Foot and alien abduction. The world is full of lunatics who believe in those imaginary things as well.

If people would start to see the evil that religion can spread, they'd be amazed.

It does take a little free thought ability (not much, though, you just gotta consider the crazy catholic raping stuff...which many catholics don't like to do...) to realize this.

No, they think, or want to believe, it's all hugs and bake sales and lovey dovey...because they DO NOT LIKE TO THINK and would rather have BS jammed down their silly little throats.

They deny westboro baptist, they pretend like they are not as crazy as all those "seed" televangelists...you know, those ones that say "you are down to last $1,000...send it to us as a seed and watch your blessings grow!!!"...and you know what?

People fu(king do it!!!

Enough that these freaks are buying personal jets!!!!

They deny people like Ted Haggard. Holy sh(t, that guy is a beaut!!!

They down realize all religious belief is a spectrum...that ends and begins in the belief in some stupid fairy tale.

So, they are on the spectrum...how far?

Hell...for many of 'em, I say not enough...if you REALLY believed in heaven and hell, you wouldn't worry ONE GOD DAM second about your time here relative to nice cars, houses, etc...you would be as crazy as all those others!!!

You would celebrate and not shed ONE GOD DAM tear if you had a child die...because little angel is going straight to heaven, right away!!!!

And then they have the frickin nerve to say if you don't believe, you can't have any sense of morals!!!

They get that sh(t jammed down their throats by kid touchin priests!!!

Well, I volunteer, do good works, donate, etc...with zero motivation of avoiding hell and going to some weird BS Valhalla...

I just do it because i want to, and it is the right thing to do.

Who is the better person NOW?

The great Christopher Hitchens was once asked...

If he were walking down a dark alley, and he saw 5 men approaching him, would he feel more comfortable if those men were carrying a cross, or not?

His response was...not carrying a cross...because all you got to do is get to the "B's" of the world's great and not so great cities and realize that guys carrying a cross mean NO GOOD whatsoever...

Belfast...Baghdad...Beijing...Boise...Berlin...etc etc...

Good stuff.

Religion bad.

Thank you. Like you I choose to involve myself in endeavors not due to reward, rather it’s the right thing to joy and it’s a passion. We don’t need a god/religion to help our fellow human beings or to be involved in positive activities. In fact secular organizations often are more effective and more into helping people for the right reasons. Christians cannot make fun of televangelists or the Scientologists either. All one and the same.

Sadly, the angry atheist troll has killed this tread. As with the other one, I will no longer post in it. I might start another one, but I know he will just infect that one with his irrational hatred and incoherent lashing out. His lack of self control and repetitive emotional outbursts, filled with the Lord's name in vain, makes reading and replying to the more sane (though failed) posts of folks like BM impossible. Another fine example of what the unfettered hate of the Internet has wrought.

BM, it makes little difference to me whether or not you seek and/or find the truth. I worry more about my family and friends walking the right path and have little time to worry about strangers on the Internet. Good luck with your life choices. If another thread here develops that the AAT doesn't make unreadable, I will engage you again.

OK. See you later.

Go get your mindless back-slaps and adulation from your church people.

Sorry you couldn't stand up to a little criticism...kinda like your beliefs. Don't really stand up to thought and critique.

Faith and mindless belief only.

And, you speak of one opposing poster in here.

I know there are at least two.

But you speak confidently of your mistaken belief, and that appears to be a pattern in your life.

That is, believe what you want against the lack of any proper evidence, and assert that belief as confidently as you can.

Have a great day, and go light some candles and blow some incense around.

Yeah another dumb christtard who believes the preists who say it is unamerican not to believe in jesus.

Actually, if you know anything about what the fathers of this country had in mind, freedom from religious thought and tyranny was one of the american virtues they were chasing here.

But these dummies spend too much time in church to have an ability to think beyond what there priests tell them to do.

Sometimes people have a right to be angry at the church/religion/god of any name.

This can be for multiple reasons, and to each their own. If you feel Jesus is the answer and your family and friends can be helped by such, so be it and I don’t wish harm but only good for fellow human beings.

With that being said, so many religions have virgin births. If Jesus existed and people didn’t bring him and others down from a cross for most likely being a madman, shame on those barbaric people. That is sadomasochistic, that a person can die for all your sins and absolve you from your responsibilities as an adult. And again no scientific or real historical evidence. And I don’t want to tell you what to think but to open your mind without worrying about what you think about as under trinity like settings that’s a self imposed 1984. Thoughtcrimes.

You were the one to introduce politics in this discussion. In the real world, there are atheistic conservatives and liberal believers. That concept is too tough for you so you have to introduce politics in order to feel like you can dismiss arguments that don't align with your worldview.

That's so stupid..."Sure, WE believe you..."

Like, it's real hard and bragworthy to claim not to be liberal on an anonymous forum.'

Makes no sense at all.

KInd of like, well...I've made my point there.

But I also like how you say "WE"...like you got a bunch of unknown, anonymous, and un-provable buddies on this forum...yeah...they're all with you, pal!

Kind of like...well...again, I've made my point there.

Go back to your pretend forum buddies and party it up!

Again with the anger, and again with the name calling.

What is wrong with you?

And, again, with the silly assertions, so confidently, if not a tad sloppily, asserted.

First off religion isn’t conservative or liberal. Try this for size I’m a conservative atheist, who’s pro life because I believe it cheapens the value of human life. Obviously in rape/incest/danger to mom it’s ok, but that’s less than 1%.

Could you explain your anger, or why not at least give the Christian his right to believe what he wants, no matter how wrong I think he is. It’s his right after all. So far he’s showing more respect and maturity.

Christians can believe whatever they want in my book.

Just like people can believe in unicorns or sasquatch or fairies if they'd like.

However, I do think anything that values "faith" over reason and rational thinking needs to be examined, and I like doing that.

I do think people don't really understand just how dangerous religion is and can be.

It can be hateful, a cheating enterprise, causes wars, etc.

And I don't subscribe to any notion that someone can't have morality without religion. Patently ridiculous.

But that is what many religious folk believe.

Not because they've figured that out on their but because like so many other things, it is what they've been told.

I think it also ridiculous that some of seem to flip out, revert to name-calling and assignation of political labels to someone who doesn't have "faith" like they do.

If I can get one or two of them to say..."you know what, this religion stuff ain't all it's cracked up to be...it is a lot of evil and there is a lot of unnecessary hate...and I don't need it to be a positive actor in this one life I've got"....I consider that a victory.

Why they think they should get a pass just because they are "holy" and "have faith" is easy to understand...they surround themselves with like minded people who abhor thinking and place value on blind faith.

Why they do that, I don't know.

But it ain't good, and I gotta admit, for me it is a little fun to see them go on tilt if you LOGICALLY question their beliefs and ask them to realize just how much unnecessary hate and evil can come from organized religions.

Have a great night!

Perhaps people wonder why there needs to be a "pushback" against organized religion.

Good thought.

As the poster above stated, I don't care what people believe in. it could be christ, unicorns, sasquatch, fairys, allah, thor, zeus.

The problem comes when this believe becomes so pervasive and almost state and nation sanctioned and then otherwise pushed on you by people.

Can you imagine if you had to say something in court about the "great sasquatch" and pray over his latest grainy black and white photo before you could testify?

Or if the ten tenets to the belief in sasquatch were posted in stone outside of government buildings?

And the problems and BS are everywhere else too-the westboro baptists fight on. The church scandals. the business savvy televangelists. the huge tax-free mega churches. Wars wars wars,

All of this because of a believe in a sasquatch like character and because of an aggressive belief that if one doesn't have christ (or some other totem) in their life, there is no way we can have a moral fabric in our life.

As one leading atheist says? "why don't I rape? because I don't want to rape. I don't need the false promise of heaven and the punishment of hell to do this. simply it is wrong and this is too easy to figure out"

Do people think it is really "moral" to not rape simply because a book tells them so? What kind of jacked up crap is that?

So yeah-maybe there does need to be some pushback, some balance, when somebody starts a thread "god loves you unconditionally".

And everywhere else, too.

The whole thing with discussing religion with people that then get all upset:

If I am trying to say what you believe in is NOT true, and you get angry at that, that is ridiculous.

Because if what you believe IS true, and you've got god behind you, it shouldn't matter one rip what I say.

Then how is that if your beliefs are so TRUE, they don't really seem to stand up to hard questioning, logic and discussion?

The anger and name calling, and dissembling. All of it comes out.

Religion is man made, therefore really screwed up. It’s chapters read like a bipolar/schizophrenia notched mess of emotions. The writing makes no sense, and it has no real historic/scientific significance as it’s a means to control. (King James)

Religion sadly divides people, as it’s intended to do, to sow mistrust and allow those in power to control more via primal urges.

All religions, claim to be the one and the truth. So lots of different selections, how to choose.

Pick none and live a life of happiness.

You also need to add: live a moral life.

If you merely say "live a life of happiness" bible thumpers are gonna jump on that and say something like "yeah, well drugs and hookers and rock and roll music aren't REAL happiness. Only jc is real happiness".

It's a false choice, folks.

If you are only 'moral" because it tells you to be in a book that promises heavan and hell to you, that is beyond WEAK.

A life of love, happiness, and kindness. These all are wonderful without any need for a god, invisible friend, or any religion. Almost all humans are fine without such sadomasochist bs. Most Christians as they call themselves insist the earth isn’t billions of years old despite proven science methods showing that. Or dinosaur bones are “tests of faith.” Hilarious.

Some of the so-called "scientific" arguments christians will use are beyond laughable.

For example, I just saw a report where a bunch 0f christians were out looking for the ark, and lo and behold, there is some rocky outcropping in some desert that does indeed have some kind of pointed/rounded side look of a boat.

So they're like, here it is! The ark!!!

REALLY?

It turned to frickin stone in 6,000 years or whatever? (I gotta be careful, because another bible thumper trick-nit pick you on facts and data as if that is a "Therefore, god" answer).

Seriously, christians, science ain't your friend. Never has been, never will be.

And remember, science is knowledge.

I mentioned this earlier with a Carl Sagen quote but it is worth repeating. Science has made mistakes. However, these mistakes have always been discovered by other Scientists after, Usually after more data has been collected. Religion has never falsified anything in Science. Science has a method of correcting itself. It isn't one of the weaknesses of Science it is one of its strengths.

Actually I like the Sagan quote “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.”

And religion gets it wrong. From people who lie to children before they can differentiate between right and wrong, their fellow Christian, Atheist, Buddhist, Muslim could be going to hell. Don’t want to get caught up in that despite the love of Jesus. He loves you and wants to save you from Hell Fire, despite it not being proven.

I will congratulate the Catholic Church. In 1965 they admitted they were wrong to celebrate Adolf Hitlers birthday. According to their history, not too long.

I don’t get the unconditional love thing - I have never experienced such a thing.
My abusive father abandoned me and my alcoholic drug addict mother left me homeless. I did go on to college and one of the best grad schools in the country, but it had nothing to do with unconditional love from God as I had the random genetic dumb luck to obtain an athletic scholarship at a D 1 school. God didn’t care how well I performed athletically. And while I try to love my kids unconditionally and I have been incredibly supportive of them, nothing is really unconditional. Forget marriage- that is one giant perpetual contract.

I get that the unconditional love thing may help somebody people, but with no evidence of it existing, it does not work for me. Maybe I am wired this way. Some view that as a flaw, and they are entitled to that view, but I learned about reality early on and prefer the results obtained from harboring no delusions.

Change comes from within and I give you kudos for not only your wherewithal but also your honesty. So many “religious people,” have attempted to shun or make me feel less than human, by my saying “until proven otherwise by evidence, I don’t believe in any god.” Have literally been called evil, although that term comes from religion so it just was water off the back.

If people want to believe nonsense, fine. At home, in places of worship, fine but I don’t have time for that. I’d rather like you focus on loving family and friends, and doing civic duties without expectation of a reward. Seeing someone smile or having a positive difference in a fellow human beings life is worth it.

That's what almost all Christians do. Why don't libtards help the poor and homeless. When do muzzie scum ever do anything? The whole philosophy of Christianity is too help the less fortunate and empower them to be successful.

Does that include touching little kids and orchestrating mass coverups?

That is what Christians want others to think they do. In truth they are no more or less evil than the general public.

Honestly, The percentage of evil is about the same in both Christians and nonbelievers and in both Liberals and Conservatives. To claim otherwise is just naive.

I think ol "President Trump FTW" has neither ever read the bible nor studied world history.

Like many, is it possible he may be happy to believe what he believes simply because it makes him feel good and comports to his image of his'self?

What do Christians and Muslims have in common?

Both build and also blow up hospitals!

While evolutionary scientists read books, write them perhaps.

Yeah the Episcopal Church welcomes you. And you. And you.

Even priests like Bob Malm who commit perjury.
