There used to be many places to street race in the county - believe it or not.
Franconia Rd., down by the old shopping ceneter in Rose Hill, "cars" used to go right up Franconia Rd.
Also in that area, the industrial park off Edsall or Manchester Lakes, right out in front of what is now that fancy shopping senter across from teh WalMart.
We used to run out at ConCraft on 50 and Stonecroft @ the Pepsi Plant before Stonecroft went through. If the cars didn't let off, they might wind up into Rt 50 - ahh, drum brakes(!)
We ran off Old Lee by where the Marriott is now and further North, in Herndon by the AT&T building when there wasn't much out there.
We wet to Ardwick / Ardmore and even V-St. Ran VW Rd. and all sorts of places in between...
In the 90's, the young (16-18 crowd) started to come in like it was a social hour, doing burnouts and racing TO the racing spots. While it was interesting to hang back 10 minutes and see who got pulled en-route, the LEO's figured out all the spots mentioned and once the plate #'s were written down and the street racing scene was "infiltrated" by the police, it wasn't the same.
Is there atill racing in the county - Sure. But I am not telling ;-)
