My sister goes to VCU; she's doing photography. But I don't know...I have a bad college track record and it may come down to just not fitting into the higher education world in general. I've wasted a lot of time (I'm 24 now, 25 in November) due to personal obstacles. Since I have a deferred acceptance to the Kubert school in New Jersey, right now I'm thinking I just take the next year to work and save some money. Hopefully I can pay for my first year and figure out what to do from there. I also really want to be away from home and New York is a better place to position yourself as a cartoonist trying to break into the business (I would think).
All things in their proper time, however. Actually, I got so far in the application process towards the Center for Cartoon Studies that I began drawing a three page story: in the application guide, they ask you to draw a short comic story starring yourself, a snowman and a robot...this is the first page of mine; I quit working on it after it came to my attention I wouldn't be going there, but I've picked it up again seeing as I already started. I've since changed the focus of the story to the snowman, who I now call Drunky. Hey, at least I got a new character idea out of it.
