Need CT Scan and a Crown No Paycheck

This morning I get a CT scan for $305 last Wed I paid for a $400 for a crown ($450 covered). I havent met the annual deductable for my BCBS Fed Insurance so this is all out of pocket. Also its my daughter's birthday. Govt shutdown means no paycheck.

We are lucky we have lots of money saved up and are living off that after that we have access to six figures of credit. What do people who are just starting out or have bigger bills than us do? Is everyone's dad Fred Trump with millions to hand out as allowance?
