Even with all of Trumps bullshit, he is still far more appealing, enduring and trustworthy than Romney. And he has far more guts.
Romney could have easily polished off Obama in 2012, but he was afraid to hit hard, hit back or even hit at all.
Romney is also opportunistic and duplicitous. He sought Trump's endorsement and donations in 2012, opposed Trump when Trump ran in 2016, sought Secretary of State from Trump when he won, sought Trump's endorsement when he ran for Senate in 2018, now he opposes Trump again? What day is it?
I don't care if Mitt opposes or supports abortion. It doesn't effect me one way or the other and laws will probably never change substantially if at all. But Romney has been all over the map on this issue. I'm sure Trump has too, but I expect a little more consistency from a Mormon who claims superior morality and righteousness.

Trump brands whoever runs against him as a loser and it always sticks because Trump finds their Achilles heel and drives it mercilessly. It sticks for the rest of their lives. Romney can't beat Trump. Why is Romney acting like he has a set of balls now? When he ran against Obama, he did well in one of the debates, but then just crawled into a corner when Obama attacked him. Trump is a much better fighter.
