Banned PETA Superbowl Ad
Date: January 30, 2009 03:42PM

So the networks have no problems showing ads about old guys with limp dicks throwing footballs through tires and horses farting fire, but they have a problem with this...

...I bet if these girls were holding Budweisers there would be no problem showing this during the Superbowl.

"Vegetarians have better sex."

They've obviously never had sex with me, then.

It's definitely mostly about Peta being a bunch of retarded, hypocritical assholes.

I think it also has to do with a message the network doesn't want to be associated with. Even though I don't think the beef and pork industries spend a lot of money advertising on TV, they are still a powerful lobby, and the majority of the people watching the Super Bowl are meat-eaters. Many will probably be serving hamburgers, chili, chicken wings or hot dogs at their super bowl parties, and really don't want to see an ad about vegetarians having better sex (not to mention lots of people watch the super bowl with their kids.)

Personally, I'm into treating tits and ass unethically.

I'm no PETA fan, but I do think if a major network advertiser put out a spot like this (like Anheiser-Busch) and not some one-off ad from a controversial group, I think the network would figure some way to run it. In all fairness, I think the network would also ban a spot from the NRA showing hunters humping deer.

PETA has little brother syndrome. Ignore them. It drives them crazy.

No question. The commercial itself isn't questionable, it's the underlying message and the fact that the group is beyond "controversial" and more or less seen universally as militant and uncompromising in their views.

I only brought up kids because I could see a lot of people complaining that they resent having to explain to their children that eating vegetables has nothing to do with having sex. (well, at least for most people.)
