Spanish Fork police said the five were found dead about 11 p.m. Thursday, when co-workers reported Joshua Boren didn’t show up for his night shift as a patrol officer at the Lindon Police Department.

Officers who looked through the window saw blood on the carpet and shell casings in the front room of the two-story home, police said. When they went inside, they found Boren’s 55-year-old mother-in-law Marie King dead in a bedroom, and Joshua Boren and his immediate family dead in the bedroom next door.

Im liberal on almost all social issues but I dont get gun control. Genie is out of the bottle folks and we can never get the guns out of the hands of criminals - they are tools of the trade. Honestly I do think the founders meant what they said about a militia for bad ass weapons but I also believed they though rifles were so essential to hunting they never contemplated keeping those out of citizens homes.

If Joshua Boren used his issued service pistol, them this can't be the same as someone buying a firearm from a gun store and then going on a shooting spree. This has nothing to do with gun rights, the NRA, the 2nd Amendment. If we lived in a country where no civilian could touch a firearm, this would have still happened as he committed these murders with a police issued firearm.

Probably that a lot homes with guns are LESS safe and that the possibility is MUCH greater that some drunken or drugged family member will kill off the family.

I see this all the time on the news. Some gun owners family gets off'd by a member of the family, a Dad, a son or crazy wife. Usually not the daughter.
