McCain was too old. Palin was too dumb. That's why The Republicans lost.

a republican or maybe even a libatarian has a chanch after a democrat administration. We've seen a kind of yoyoing. It almost seems like McCain was a fall guy

Since the two parties have created such a partisan atmosphere, marginalized everyone except for the extreme fringes of each party, condensed the argument down to a few hot-button issues like abortion, immmigration, gay marriage, etc, as demonstrated by the trend towards very thin margins of victory in every election, we should expect a back-and-forth for the foreseeable future.

But I don't think you'll see a libertarian, democratically leaning or republican leaning ever have a chance at becoming president, as long as this duopolist stranglehold persists.

The two-parties exist presently only to maintain the status quo for large corporations while providing a false sense of citizen involvement as well as to distract everyone from the larger trends and the real issues and problems created by a system of governance that favors big money and all but ignores the things that actually affect the average person.
