Dangerous ID Rally Wednesday in Richmond
Posted by: Rod ()

The Stop Dangerous ID Rally is just two days away! Congressman Ron Paul has taken every opportunity to warn of the creation of a national ID card and the threat to individual privacy facing Americans as a result of enactment of Real ID. One has to wonder why Obama effectively voted in favor of the Real ID in May 2005 and also failed to vote at all on a bill that would provide funding to states to carry out the Real ID Act of 2005 brought before Congress in July of 2007.

Absent a political miracle in the Senate, within one year every American will need a conforming national ID card to participate in ordinary activities.

Dangerous ID is a direct frontal assault on our freedoms. The Constitution and Bill of Rights recognized those freedoms. Now it is our job to defend them.

Our founding fathers braved many extremes and even gave their lives to fight for our freedoms. Surely we can brave the cold for an hour to defend ourselves against this threat.

Please plan to attend the rally on Wednesday, January 21, 1:00 pm at the Virginia State Capital Bell Tower. After the rally we will divide up into teams to lobby our legislators and ask for their support of H.B.1587. If for some reason you cannot make it to the rally, please call or email your legislators. You can find your legislators here.

This is the last session we have to stop this abuse of power in Virginia. If we fail, we will be required to replace our state driver’s license for a Dangerous ID in January 2010. It’s up to each of us to see to it this does not happen.

“The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.” Thomas Jefferson

The entrance to the Capital Bell Tower is on 9th and Franklin Streets.

Yeah, now they'll just have to make up fake Real IDs.

There's no document that man can create that another man cannot duplicate. Plain and simple. Real ID is just another power grab by the federal government. And just like creating a whole new bureaucracy in DHS, it won't make us any safer, but everyone made scared of the big bad terrorist or the big bad illegal will support it if they say it will make us safer.

what the real id thing is really about is forcing states to make it more difficult to counterfeit. driver's license from some states are absolutely laughable. any sixth grader with a printer and laminating sheets could make one (no joke!). real id isnt a set design, it's a set of required security implements that have to be a part of all id cards. i think VA already meets all the requirements for real id anyway so it's a lot of bitching for nothing.

Oh, so the people all worked up about it are really just confusing this with the old national ID thing that I believe was dropped before it even got rolling?

If it's just about holograms and other anti-copy devices, what's the big deal?

That's what they want you to think. Go to the government they are there to help you.

being a fucktard is a 24/7/365 job, so they have to find something to whine about.
