rights of women in law go back 2000+ yrs, and were as strong then as now (hillary is full of crap and helping judges dodge poor decisioning)

the historically interesting fact is that many wars erupted by family feuds. not just feudalism (money land) but wars erupting between families over failed marriages. marriage laws and courts were deemed necessary - there were just too many wars.

today's VA law clearly mostly focuses on protecting the child's rights to not be a victim of a failed marriage
however if one goes into Black's law there is much more to consider.
monetary abuse is one. and VA law i beleive is "half" (very roughly speaking, since "mental state" "verbal abuse" and "marital value" are being used in judgements, i'm sure, i've seen)
if you can avoid lawyers and file downloaded legal forms you might save allot of money. a lengthy lawsuit taking their advice will cost more than the land.
