It seems that might become a reality. I can't wait to see how quickly "fiscal conservatism" gets thrown out the window.

Whether it goes for the Republican party or not, we do have to realize that a big portion of America has been thrown away for quite a few decades now. It's just that over the past 5 years, the "turbo" button has been pressed and the pace has been increased a bit.

Gerry, it is based on fact. The National debt has been growing and then put into "turbo" mode the past 5 years. That is fact. That is reality and doesn't take too much digging to see it.

And, no, the intent isn't to put the old crooks back in - but to get rid of McConnell, etc., but still take control of the senate with new members for the GOP.

The "Old crooks" you refer to will still be there for the most part - Reid, Schumer, etc.

if people do not have means to be productive because of stalling: you get a stalled economy

saying "well chinas factory output is high" doesn't solve what about people in USA stalled with nothing to do because of lack of supplies and workplaces

joe can't find $10 he has to get food stamps. if joe can't scrap together transportation joe can't work. nothing gets done.

over-expanding is a great way to cause stalling. so much more demand than supply everyone is stuck

now saying "that's fine. gov workers with get 3x the pay and kill the other half too poor to argue"

Countries outside the US, EU, and Japan couldn't get away with the money printing to bail out their investors and still hold the borrowing nations feet by the fire. Ordinarily, the banks should be going into bankruptcy and the debts mostly written off as the banks are taken over by investors for pennies on the dollar. Greece, Spain, and Italy would have been far better off.

The same exceptionalism applies to pretending that the US and NATO are fighting terrorism.

Hopefully the next Republican president's world view will stick around a bit longer than the "reset" and "leading from behind." Those will certainly go down in U.S. foreign policy history as jokes of the not-funny kind.

I think I had heard about another country printing money last week. New Zealand? I need to check into it as it appears someone might have been taking a page from the U.S. by printing money.

Also, last week, China realized how much of a bind they are getting into and their country announced some of their industries would fail. If things get too tough in China, what's the chance of them calling in the debt that they're holding for the U.S.? Probably, quite likely.

The Chinese can't just "call in a debt". That's not the way the US debt works. They can sell the US debt that they hold (they are already doing this) to another party and get a portion of their money back, but they can't just say, "pay us all the money now". Even if they could call in the debt, the Fed would just have Treasury print more money and buy it back from them. The Fed and other US government & quasi-governmental organizations - including banks and investement houses being used as laundering shills (and thus we, the taxpayers) own most of the debt and that portion is getting bigger. Our kids and grandkids own our debt. The Chinese are bit players in that regard.
