Missing plane, heightened alert in the US?
Posted by: kev ()

With the wreckage from the Chinese sat photos not being found, and the news that Rolls Royce has data for 4 hours after the transponders were turned off, then foul play is becoming increasingly likely.

I wonder/hope if military and intelligence are on high alert, with the likelyhood (albeit small) that the plane was diverted to be used at a later date.

Are we tracking the skies to make sure there's no unaccounted-for flights?
Are appropriate sized landing strips, in that area of the world, being examined via sat photos?

Hope we don't drop the ball again, like 9/11. Seems like all the pros in the aviation industry are saying this doesn't add up and doesn't appear to be a crash.

It would take more than 4 hours to get to the US though, right?

At this point, I dont think any theory is too outrageous. For all we know, Al Qada may have the plane. Thye probably just dumped all the passengers and crew out over the ocean.

The plane ran out of fuel and was ditched in one piece in the ocean like the NY river landing. The search planes were looking in the spot. The plane sank with all aboard. The plane will not be found for years.

US intelligence know exactly where the plane is but will not reveal because their is no point now.

I never heard what the range of that plane was or how much fuel they had.

Seems like it would be a huge undertaking to steal a plane and find ANY even rogue nation that would allow a landing.

If it was stolen for terror hijinks, I gotta hope they fucked up and wrecked in the ocean.

Full load of fuel, ideal weather conditions, 8-9 hours

Correct, talking about landing in a remote area. Then re-fueling and leaving from there. This would require planning and finding an area that would be easy to avoid witnesses.

Worth noting is that the pilot had a very elaborate simulator in his home. He could have really just loved his job that much, or...a good way to practice a more insidious plan. But all reports point to him being a top notch and passionate pilot.

My guess is that it crashed into the ocean and the people searching for it haven't found it yet.

Also, according the the specialist in this article (http://www.livescience.com/44012-malaysian-airlines-mystery-radar-tracking.html);

"Someone who wanted to steal the Malaysia Airlines jet could theoretically shut off the transponder and dip down to an altitude of 5,000 feet (about 1,520 meters) or so, he added, while cautioning how far-fetched that scenario is."

But the entire WORLD knows about it -- someone would have spotted it and tipped off the feds by now..

Well, they do now. Flying just below 5000ft, in the middle of the night, in a remote part of the world? Who knows.

No place is that remote anymore - these days, the bushmen are all either drunks on the dole or they have jobs like everybody else. And there's now a solid road out to Nye-Nye, so no more isolation in any sense of word.

Point is, even if you managed to gain control of the plane and try to fly it anywhere, you'd eventually show up on somebody's radar. Hate to say it but those guys went down, most likely in the ocean. Even if they'd ended up somewhere like the Central Highlands of New Guinea, somebody would have called it in by now.

I've been on a 10 hour flight on a Boeing 777, non-stop.

Flight 370 was shot down by a Russian submarine in an attempt to direct media attention away from the annexation of Crimea.
