So will Trump get 1 or 2 Supreme Court nominations during his first term?

Clearly Alito's open spot has to be filled, but who's next? Ginsburg hasn't been looking so good lately.

Can you imagine? Court swings to 6-3 during his first term? And they're not getting younger, could be even more replacements during his second.

Just hope he appoints young ones so they're in place for a good long time and can serve as a bulwark against rising statism from the left.

Nice shot, and a very good point. I like who I like, but a very young person will preserve Our Nation. I don't know who this young person is yet, but President Trump will think about, and make the right pick.

This was a stunning victory for the Donald. It leaves him in a very strong position with both houses behind him at this point. There's no guarantee the R's will stay with him or for how long, but certainly they will be behind him on the SC nomination, which will be one of the first thing to get done. It's a good start.

What month will it be when the trump idiots realize they have been had? Or will they be too dumb to tell. Please don't be under the illusion that he cares about the working man. You had your fun yesterday and you start paying the price in two months. When your health care is gone, and we return to those terrific economic times brought to us by the republicans last time, enjoy the fallout. Don't look at the huge character flaws, because a smart position can be flawed and still do good work for the country. Trump is just not a smart man. It will be fun to watch the dems obstruct when possible, whine about everything he does, and have no responsibility at all for the mistakes. Enjoy it while it lasts, you Scott Bayo-loving losers.

You make some very good points.

One minor correction: you probably were just tired from the late night waiting for returns and mistakenly indicated that Justice Alito's seat is open. It was Justice Scalia who died last February.

As you correctly note, Ruth Buzzi Ginsberg is the next Justice likely to retire. Below is photo of her in younger days when she was happily on 60's TV show Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In.

About the other Justices, there are 2 or 3 others, mainly liberals, who are long in the tooth.

On the other hand, the Dems carried Hillary through her part-time campaign (until the last 2 weeks when she went full time) like she was Bernie's body in Weekend at Bernies movie.

Maybe the lib forces could carry barely alive Justices around for years. Just let their law clerks write the decisions.
