Wyeth died in his sleep. He was 91.

That painting is epic and one of his best. I always thought Christina was fleeing from something in the house but never knew what. Ever since I started reading FU, I like to believe that she stumbled upon Spunky taking a marathon dump and was waiting to watch the plumbing explode in the house.

Actually, Christina is a paraplegic who was struggling to crawl back to the house (no kidding). Wyeth saw her in the field one day and decided to paint her.

The chick in American Gothic, though, looks a lot like Spunky. Or so I have heard.
