For more than a year, says the Baltimore Sun, there were Comcast cables laying in the gutters, and across the driveways of a neighborhood in Hanover, MD. Why were they laying there? Because that's where Comcast installed them.

Comcast service people have the worst attitude and don't appear to know what they are doing half the time. When I got HDTV, I had three different Comcast people come out. The first one put in a box that didn't work on HDTV. The second one came out and couldn't figure out that the box wasn't HDTV compatible. Finally, the third guy came out and installed the HDTV box. After he left, I installed the HDTV box correctly.

I just want all these companies - Verizon, Cox, Comcast, Directv, whoever, to start using cablecards. That way I don't have to worry about making yet ANOTHER remote control work with my shit and I don't have to make space for a converter.

for cable companies, being an asshole and having horrific cablecard or no cablecard support is far more profitable. having your customers pay $15 per month per cable box is a lot more than $3 per cablecard(government mandate). i found recently on cox.net that you can get an ancient cablecard from cox as it's listed on their price chart buried somewhere deep in the site. the listing said they are "working" on getting anything past cablecard 1.0 standards... it was dated 2004. i would like the slit the necks of the people who are intentionally profiting by having such crappy cablecard support.
