Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
My wife and me are considering Sandals at St Lucia, but we have received mixed reviews. Looking for a "upper middle class vacation for lower middle class."
cruises are "upper middle class vacations for lower middle class". ;)
But seriously, Costa Rica is supposed to be nice and cheap, though you probably have to do all the bookings yourself, I don't think there's a lot of package deals in Costa Rica.
But the Bahamas is definitely "lower middle class" nowadays, especially paradise island, it's all casinos and shanty towns -- sorta like a tropical Atlantic City.

Bob, Atlantis on Paradise Island is extremely expensive! When's the last time you were there and did you pay? I would check out travel on a Budget or the travel channel or some other sites...do your research don't trust anyone here, especially for something so special as a honeymoon. Ask people you know and trust.

Wasn't there a few earthquakes in Yosemite?
Costa Rica is one of those places where the masses haven't overwhelmed the country, and they have unspoiled natural resources.
The beaches are supposed to be pristine and fairly quiet.
Most of Costa Rica is tourist free. Most of the decent hotels are Marriots.
The Google is our friend. If you care to learn about it, use the google.
Unless things have really changed over the past 5 or 6 years, there's no way I'd consider Paradise Island/Atlantis "lower middle class". That place is pretty fuckin swanky. Celebrities like Michael Jordan hang out there. And I don't remember seeing shanty towns over on that side of the bridge either, all the slummy type places were over in Nassau proper. I'd be shocked if the place has gone downhill.

Try Playa Del Carmen in Mexico. It is south of Cancun and a quick ferry trip to Cozumel. It isn't as built up as other resort areas there.
Trip is booked. Going to Sandals Halcyon, St Lucia. Its the smaller one on the island, hear its quaint and it offers lots of the stuff we wanted to do. I've been to Cancun, Cozumel, etc. All nice places, but we wanted to try something new.
Thanks to all with ligitimate responses to my google-able question! Much apprech!
