This is the worst winter we've had in a long time!

Its March already and snowing. And we could get more snow tomorrow? I think that 'ol groundhog was right. We were in for a long winter. On a more positive note, we should have a nice long warm summer, as harsh winters often bring hot summers. Let's hope!

The 2009-2010 winter was worse IMO. We had three blizzards that year that dropped 16-20 inches each; 2 of those within a few days of each other. I remember the snow-pile under the parking deck at Tysons II was still there until mid April.
We've gotten decent snowfalls here this year and prolonged subfreezing temps, but it was more like a normal bad winter. Not the disaster level storms we had in 2010.

I remember that winter. The Woodson High School parking lot had a snow pile three stories high.

More snow but it's been colder and cold longer without any real break than is normal.
Without checking the actual temperature numbers I gauge it by my pond. Most years it will freeze over for a week or so at a time until we get some warmer weather and then it melts off. In warmer years not much at all. Maybe a thin layer a couple of times. This year it's been frozen solid with thick ice almost all Winter since it got cold. About as bad as I remember ever seeing. We had a few breaks but they were short and far between. Then right back to the 20s again for a week.

We'll get a lousy summer also. Expect a monsoon rainy spring right into a hot muggy summer, and by pass Indian summer into Winter again. All has to do with global warming. The beat goes on!

Seriously, i hate it when we get snow late , like any time it snows after February 28th, its too late. Its almost Spring. We should be in the 60s by now and hear the birds singing, not shoveling this weired looking white stuff.
