Listen guys, we only have about a week or so left until Obama takes over and he sure as hell won't get tough with terror. As a "parting gift" to the terrorists, we should nuke Iraq (Or at least Baghdad) to leave a permanent reminder to the terrorists that they should think twice before they mess with us again. This war is dragging on, and we're losing hundreds of American soldiers. This is just like WWII Japan...either we end it now, or we lose more soldiers than we should.

Do you have any idea how long it would take to get 130,000 soldiers and 185,000 private contractors out of Iraq?

I didn't say anything about "across the ocean". I said we should get our boys away from the area that will be affected by nuclear fallout + blast. We can use turkey or any other neighboring country. Israel can help accommodate. We can do this. It's really not that difficult when you think about it. We do more during an average rush-hour every morning.

Personally I agree with that strategy/conclusion. Forty years of the COld War proved to me that mutually assured destruction is the only language we or any super power understands.

MAD may work for a relatively civilized power (i.e. Russia, China, etc.), but if the right towel head fanatic got his hands on a nuke, he wouldn't care about any potential retaliatory response. He would use the nuke without even thinking twice.

Not quite. We can move to another allied country. Screw what they, or any other country thinks.What's Turkey going to do? Fight us? They suck off our tit. Other countries will be impacted by the fallout, but whatever. Screw them. They should have put a lid on the terrorists so this wouldn't have to happen in the first place. I just came back from Iraq, it's all fucked up over there. Instead of our troops getting killed over there we should have flooded the streets of Baghdad with soliders like an invasion. Our military should have sent over a massive flood of man power, out numbering civilians and terrorists alike 10 troops to 1 rag head. We have the power to swarm the enemy like killer bees. Just like they send in 15 cops to bust 1 dealer. This war could have ended years ago, saving thousands of lives. Thanks Bush.

Actually, you can pin more of the blame for that one on Rumsfeld -- it was his desire to prove his theories, which he called "The Revolution in Military Affairs" which prescribed a small "agile" force for the invasion.

Of course, it was the entire administration (minus a few dissenters like Colin Powell and most of the JCS) that failed to consider the "what do we do afterward" part of the equation. It was an article of faith that being greeted as liberators was a plan or strategy, and that as long as you sent people to run the coalition provisional authority that were loyal to your ideology, everything would work out just fine. Party loyalty was more important than qualifications when choosing people to send over there to help set up a government.

Remember how the few places in the early days where there was relative calm were run either by the british or the 101st ABN? The brits stuck with their own plan, and used their knowledge and experiences from Belfast and the IRA, and the 101st, well, they just never do anything half-assed, even if given a half-assed mission with half-assed equipment and half-assed troop levels. (Plus, I guess it didn't hurt that the 101st had been hardened after a year or so running around the mountains of afghanistan chasing Bin Laden.)

Well, Hussein is now our president. I guess the prospect of nuking Iraq is out the window. That's too bad. They really deserved it too.

The same Saudi Sheikh who was a sworn enemy to all secular governments in "Islamic lands", especially the westernized government of Iraq which allowed men and women to socialize openly, allowed women to get advanced degrees and wear western clothing, etc.

Bob, you are no doubt in my mind a TRUE AMERICAN. I agree with everything you posted in this thread. I love my country and all those who love it. It saddens me that we lost so many of our soliders. So many young lives taken away. I was over seas for 6 years. I am signing up for 1 more round before this war is over. I don't hate Bush. Well, then volunteer for Afghanistan instead of Iraq. Iraq is only in this fight because we put them into it. Most of them weren't really against our invasion either. It was foreign "fighters" who stirred up all the shit over there, not the Iraqis. Of course, some Iraqi militias like Sadr's got into pissing matches with US soldiers, but only because the Syrian, Jordanian and Saudi foreign fighter, al-qaeda wannabees, played the militias against the americans, and of course some bad blood caused by some asshole "private security" mercenary groups thinking they could do whatever they wanted over there.

Like Aegis, a british merc group. Pay particular attention to 1:37 in the video, when they shoot some guy just walking along the sidewalk:





Afghanistan is where the people who attacked us and the people who supported them are. (well, there and also in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, but we seem to refuse to admit it since Pakistan has a nuke and Saudi Arabia has oil and Prince Bandar is friends with the Bush family.) Afghanistan is where the fight always should have been, and we should have marched into Pakistan right after Bin Laden at Tora Bora. We had the manpower at the time. 10th mountain division, 101st ABN and elements of the 25th ID, plus all sorts of special operations teams and the northern alliance who are some hardcore afghani fighters.

But at least if you're in Afghanistan, you know you're fighting against the people who attacked us, and not just people who are reacting to us being there.
