Enter the R51 Sub-Compact—a modern, concealable pistol with the ability to handle +P factory ammunition. The R51 uses a hammer-fired, Pedersen action with a locked breech and fixed 416 stainless steel barrel. It also features drift-adjustable sights and an aluminum frame with 25 lines-per-inch checkering on the front grip strap.

The standard Remington R51 Sub-Compact will be available Feb. 1, 2014 at a price of $389.

No such thing. Matter of fact, small arms from China have been banned for import into the US.

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/07/daniel-zimmerman/breaking-remington-replace-r51s/

Remington is buying back all R51s sold.

After initial commercial sales, our loyal customers notified us that some R51 pistols had performance issues. We immediately ceased production to re-test the product. While we determined the pistols were safe, certain units did not meet Remington’s performance criteria. The performance problems resulted from complications during our transition from prototype to mass production. These problems have been identified and solutions are being implemented, with an expected production restart in October.

Anyone who purchased an R51 may return it and receive a new R51 pistol, along with two additional magazines and a custom Pelican case, by calling Remington at (800) 243-9700.

Do Glock's support +P and +P+ ammo? Serious question. I've always run 147gr. Golden Sabres in mine. Haven't gone +P yet.

YES! Glock can handle extremely hot loads, even surpassing NATO spec pressures!

I know this because I found out that the military 9mm 124 grain ball ammo, labeled NATO spec is well past +P+ pressure. It's designed to be optimal for 9mm submachine guns.

The Beretta 92 and Glock 17 are ideal for +P+ loads. You shouldn't use ammo that hot in pocket sized 9mm pistols.

If you really want to mix it up, get some 38 standard pressure, then 38+P, the .357 Magnum!

Have you ever heard of 38 Special +P+? Federal Premium makes it, it's for police departments that have .357 Magnum revolvers that have been subsequently banned from using any magnum ammunition. There are even police departments in the US that are banned from using hollowpoint ammunition!

My .357 only hold 5 rounds. I can believe that. I have a friend who works for Charlottesville PD and said they've became so liberal, even their SWAT Team has moved to semi-auto AR-15s from full-auto. Silly.

Eesh is full of shit on this. There a reason why the military don't use glocks and now PD departments are getting rid of them for more solid guns.

Full auto is worthless. unless you want burn through all your ammo (Bad fire discipline, 20rd clips vs 30rd clips) and still don't hit shit that you are shooting at. In Afghanistan, I used the M4A1, SOPMOD M4A1 in several fire fights and never used full auto. A fire fight could last a long time. How many rounds of ammo (5.56) do you think you can carry? 200? 300? 400? 500? 1000? try it some time. I carried 300 rounds and that was heavy beside all the other shit to carry (radio, water, food, AT4s, grenades) and I dumped my M9 for weight and let the FOBBITs carry them. If you got stuck with the M249, M240 or the Mk46, nice effective rate of fire, it sucked, 1000 rounds of 5.56 is very heavy.

Eli,

It is you that doesn't know what he is talking about. The Glock is not used by our military since it doesn't have an external safety, but it was originally designed for the Austrian military and is used worldwide. As far as police go, the Glock 22 is one of the most commonly used pistols in the nation.

Please know and understand what you are talking about before you bang on a keyboard.

There is all kinds of stupid being typed here in this thread. The first thing I saw that stuck me as really a dumb ass statement was NATO 9mm is a hotter round then a 9mm +P+.

The second is this statement above. If you are still carrying Federal 9mm +P+ 115gr in your guns then you need to stop. This is shit ammo. It was great in the 80's. Its crap by todays standards. Go spend some money and get some good ammo.

Most gun manufactures put in the manuals not to use +P+ ammo in their handguns. SIG is one. Its not because the guns can not handle the pressures, its because it can cause the guns to wear faster. Any modern handgun used by military or police in the US will hold up to +P+ ammo.

You don't know what you are talking about, and NATO spec 9mm exceeds the SAAMI specifications for 9mm +P+.

Stop banging on the keyboard hoping to make a comment that will stick.

How many reloading books have you read on this subject? First, there is no SAAMI specs for 9mm +P+. Closest would be +P to NATO spec 9mm. They are very close. Spend more time on reloading webpages and less time here.

Your claimed knowledge of firearms and such sucks. You should stick to the topics you know better.

haha Now we're getting into a "real firearm owners reload their ammo" argument.

I hope you know that firing reloaded ammo voids the manufacturer warranty on whatever firearm you are shooting from.

Yeah it does!! Glad you read your owner's manuals.

None of the rifles I shoot reloads from have warranties to start with so I'm not worried about it.

But if I did, its not an issue unless you blow up a gun or have other pressure issues and claim its due to a manufactures defect and covered by warranty. The manufacture of the one gun I had an issue with never even asked if I had ever shot reloads in the gun. They took care of the problem without ever asking what kind of ammo I was shooting.

And reloading is not for everybody. I could care less if somebody reloads or not. Not everybody should reload.
