If you have/had the angry birds app on your phone, then you are a douchebag and deserve to be monitored by the gov't.

I don't doubt for a second that the NSA had the ability to track a cell phone before the technology became mainstream. This "revelation" isn't surprising to anyone who thinks about it for five seconds. This would go on regardless of who is president, so save your Obama references.

No, they can't possibly be using it to spy on ordinary Americans. To track and store that data would require thousands of workers and millions of dollars in equipment, for what? To find out I'm sitting in my cardboard box at home masturbating jerking off again?

If you're a part of a terrorist organization or some other unsavory groups that are enemies of the state, then yes. There's probably a dude watching everything you do via your smartphone, and has been doing it for a while now.

You misunderstand the point.

They capture and store everything.

It's just a question of what they want to go back and look at more closely from there.

You can't have the government (or persons in the government or outsiders who may gain access in some way) capturing and maintaining a massive pool of aggregated data like that. The mere capture and existence represents an unreasonable, untargeted search and there's just too much potential for abuse.

In order to handle that much data you would need a server farm the size of Rhode Island. That's a slight exaggeration, but it would take a massive amount if resources to store everything, let alone process it. Why collect information on every American when you can just tune into any American you want? The NSA doesn't work under the assumption that every person will become a terrorist or foreign agent at some point in their life. They'd never get anything done.

You mean something like this? lol

'Everything' obviously is over stating it, but massive amounts isn't.

Why do so is because they use automated systems to scan huge amounts of data for triggers and other points and trends of interest. They then tune in more closely.

Oops... meant to say they can tune in more closely and go back in time over stored data to further resolve locations, habits, connections, trends, etc.

This is what you wanted. You wanted a war on terror police state crusade. This is what it encompasses.

Do you want to go around waging wars and crusading or not? If you want to crusade you need to forget about the Constitution.

You can't have both, they are not able to coexist. Its either a crusade or the Constitution. Choose one now, and have one viewpoint and policy position.

You can't be a crusading Constitutionalist, you're an idiot if you try to be.

Just curious, but why would terrorists have Angry Birds installed on their phones? Long day at the mosque?
