Republicans send letter to Iran
Posted by: Republican chickenhawks ()
Date: March 09, 2015 04:25PM

Republicans have sent the leaders of Iran a letter attempting to undermine the president in his negotiations.

Republicans are attempting to torpedo negotiations to put us on a path to inevitable war.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/10/world/asia/white-house-faults-gop-senators-letter-to-irans-leaders.html?_r=0

A vote for Republicans is a vote for another more costly war that these idiots don't understand the ramifications of as was the case with Iraq.

We're 17 trillion in debt and these idiot Republican morons are hell bent on bankrupting us.

Clearly a violation of the Logan Act and the Constitutional separation of powers.

The 48 Republicans should be charged, tried, convicted, and sent to jail.

Read this shit. This shit is so embarrassing I'm dying in shame right now. These fucking Republicans have embarrassed America unbelievably. The Iranians are mocking them for the idiots they are and are making us look like too in the process.

In response, Zarif brushed the letter aside, saying it "has no legal value and is mostly a propaganda ploy."

"It is very interesting that while negotiations are still in progress and while no agreement has been reached, some political pressure groups are so afraid even of the prospect of an agreement that they resort to unconventional methods, unprecedented in diplomatic history," he added.

Zarif "expressed astonishment that some members of Congress find it appropriate to write leaders of another country against their own president," a press release explained. "It seems that the authors not only do not understand international law, but are not fully cognizant of the nuances of their own Constitution when it comes to presidential powers in the conduct of foreign policy."

READ THAT RESPONSE FROM THE IRANIANS. I'M SO FUCKING EMBARRASSED. UNBELIEVABLE HOW FUCKING EMBARRASSING THESE REPUBLICANS MORONS HAVE BECOME. SAD DAY FOR AMERICA.

The basis of the entire letter is absurd. All these dumb ass Republicans don't understand the basis for an international agreement. It is governed by international law.

"The world is not the United States, and the conduct of inter-state relations is governed by international law, and not by U.S. domestic law," Zarif explained. "The authors may not fully understand that in international law, governments represent the entirety of their respective states, are responsible for the conduct of foreign affairs, are required to fulfil the obligations they undertake with other states and may not invoke their internal law as justification for failure to perform their international obligations."

He's fucking schooling these dumb ass Republicans for their dumb ass letter in front of the world.

No seriously, this is some unbelievably stupid and embarrassing shit. It's one thing for these dumb ass Republicans to make fools of themselves daily domestically but they are making complete fools of themselves on the international stage.

An Iranian diplomat just took them to school like little children.

I really dont understand the letter's purpose. I know the GOP doesnt want an agreement - I get that. But why did members of the senate send an ad hoc letter to another nation attempting to nix diplomatic relations. It would be one thing if this were a normal function of our system of government and diplomacy. Even if it were that, the letter was absurd. They sent a letter to Iran (whom they believe are able enough to make a nuclear weapon) explaining presidential powers to negotiate and the limits thereto. Do they really think Iranian diplomats have not carefully studied our constitution? Even if THAT was normal their letter seems to be incorrect in many of their assertions.

It makes the US and more specifically the GOP as ill-informed at best. I just really do not understand this. I am totally open to someone explaining it to me from the GOP perspective.

There is delicious irony in the fact that these senators demonstrate not only a puerile understanding of international law, but their complete ignorance of Israeli politics.

There is every liklihood that Netanyahu will lose the March 17 election, which is being held 3 years early because of a crisis in his governing coalition brought about by his own intransigence. If he loses, the most likely person to then become prime minister is Isaac Heroz -- perhaps in a power sharing arrangement with Tzipi Livni. Both are left of center, and support negotiations. The Republicans will be hoisted with their own petard.

Actually it's a relatively straightforward description of what's required for treaty ratification and the status of any executive agreement otherwise.

Apparently you're unaware that the Iranians also have to get any treaty past their own Parliament and that there's similar significant resistance on that side.

It's an embarrasment for the Republican Party. But then again most conservatives like fart jokes. They shit their pants with this one.

These Republicans just gave the Iranians leverage at the negotiating table.

DOJ should charge them for what is clearly a blatant crime.

They've already had all of the leverage. They've been playing the US for 20 years. Obama just removed the sanctions and endorsed it.

It is astonishing that some pissant little Senator from a backwater state has the unmitigated gall to initiate this letter. It is incredible that he was able to convince or coerce the majority of his fellow Republicans into signing it. It is not the least bit surprising that the Iranian foreign minister knows a hell of a lot more about our constitution and international politics than these ridiculous yahoos.

These people are determined to destroy this country. They need to be tried for treason.

Yea you didnt read the letter did you. I didnt think so. It reads like a disgruntled employee memo just before they are fired. Iran has the most number of US educated government officials of any country in the world outside of the US. The have US constitutional scholars of their own and dont need a primer written as if to an idiot.

BTW if they have a similar procedure why would the Senators feel the need to 'educate' them at this point in time? If the Dems had done this to Regan or the Bushes in their international negotiations I would have called for them to be removed from office.

Why are the American people allowing these 47 Senators even one more second in United States office? They should be recalled and have new elections on each of their seats. To write a letter to another country to warn them that dealing with the executive office of the US is not in their best interests, is complete and utter treason. What the heck were they thinking? they have demonstrated they are INCAPABLE for their seats. Dangerous too.

I get it, "bash Obama whenever you can" are your marching orders from Heritage and Jim Demint. But Mr. Demint has screwed everything up, I mean everything, since he thought he could control the Senate from the Heritage Foundation. Stop listening to him, he is making fools out of the Republican Senate.

I’ve never been so angry politically in my life. 47 Republican Senators can't think for thremselves, and follow orders from a "think tank," and sign on the bottom line to dreail a foriegn policy objective. This one really takes the cake. I now fear it IS possible for them to go even lower, Senators. This is dangerous nonsense and only appeals to those who desire sedition and anarchy...

That's because you're an idiot parroting bullshit that you were told to think.

I guess you forgot about Nancy's trip to Syria during Bush's term huh?

Not at all, but you've clearly forgotten the response of the Bush administration, which screeched that the President was the sole authority on all matters of foreign policy, and that any efforts by Congress (no talk about "co-equal branches" of government then) to interfer with his "I'm the decider" actions were illegal, unconstitutional, and treasonous. I believe it was that paragon of moral virtue, Dick Cheney, who denounced Pelosi's trip by pointing out that it is the role of the President to conduct foreign policy, not members of Congress.

So, you will of course be consistent and join us in demanding the recall and resignation of these 47 senators that VP Cheney would have called traitors.
