Just an FYI. The flag depicted is NOT the Confederate flag. The Confederacy had three national flag patterns during its short existence. None of those patterns are depicted above. The design of the Confederate battle flag of the Army of Northern Virginia (which was the Army Lee commanded and Jackson served in) was square. The rectangular flag depicted saw occasional use during the Civil War but became much more common after the war.

That is the trend now. Lazy state workers have too many paid holidays already. LJ day is a waste of over a million tax dollars a year.

Measures have to be taken to abolish this as an even pseudo holiday. Why are we Americans celebrating the elevation of two renegade pro slavery advocates at all? It just boggles the mind, what's next...Aaron Burr Day? Johnny Walker Day?

The Lee-Jackson day parade and other related events is quite a sight to see down in Lexington. Most of the events will be held on Saturday as many folks do not get Friday off of work. The events other than the luncheon and dance are free and open to the public!

The Lee-Jackson Symposium will return on Friday January 15 featuring four speakers 1-5pm. Holiday Inn Express ~ Gallery Room

The annual Memorial Services, Parade, and a Luncheon, will be held on Saturday January 16 in Lexington.

Luncheon and Dance tickets are $25 and we must receive reservation or payment by January 11th. No walk-ins. You may be placed on our waiting list if you inquire past the deadline.

I really enjoyed the video. It's one of the rare occasions where they are smart enough to put the horses at the end of the parade instead of the front so the marchers don't have to navigate through horse poo. Been there, done that.

Remember when all the banks, credit unions and the ABC stores were closed on LJ day? We should go back to that.
